September 2002 Journal

We have been so busy.  Mommy and Daddy are both back to work.  Daddy is working at a grocery warehouse and Mommy is working part time at a day care center.  I get to go with Mommy three days a week, then I get to stay home with Daddy.

Other than me turning 14 months old, we have nothing big planned for this month but that doesn't mean we won't come up with exciting things to do!

Happy Labor Day!
September 1 , 2002
Happy Labor Day!  We didn't do too much during the day today except lay around the house!  Daddy is still getting used to his new job, which he said he would tell you all about tomorrow!  After supper, we went downtown to the Kipona festival in Harrisburg.  We walked around the park and down by the river.  We stayed until after my bedtime to watch the fireworks!  Boy, were they good.  They were the best ones we have seen all year!  I was a little scared at first but then they were just to mesmerizing.  They had this really cool red one that went off and then stayed lit as it fell to the ground.  Daddy said that is probably it for fireworks until next summer!
Mommy and Daddy Are Back to Work!
September 2 , 2002
Actually Daddy went back to work in August but we have been so busy and tired at night that we haven't been able to get caught up on the web page.  Anyway, he is working for C&S Wholesale Groceries, INC.  It is a grocery warehouse that supplies dry goods to local GIANT supermarkets.  He is very tired, dirty and (sorry, Daddy) smelly, when he gets home from work.  He, along with his "team" have to load pallets full of groceries, wrap them up and then load them onto the trucks.  He works 4 ten hour days, (works M,T,W and off on TH and FR, works SAT and off again on Sunday), so on those days I don't see him very much.  I'm glad I get to stay home with him on Thursday and Friday.  He is in training now so he gets paid by the hour but normally he will only get 10cents a case!!!  All of that other work, wrapping, loading, etc....is money lost.  So, it's a very face-paced and physical job.  One of which he wasn't used to.  He hasn't really said too much but I think he likes it for the most part.  We'll see how it goes.  He is hoping that it will get him back in shape!  He has already lost around 5 pounds.

Mommy actually started working today!!  She is working at the same center as our friend Amanda Deimler works for.  Amanda is actually Mommy's "boss" now....well, kind of.  Anyway, she works for Fun Care Child Development Center.  Right now Mommy works with Ms. Faith in the three year old room.  She works from 3-5:30.   I get to go with Mommy on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  So, today was my first day too!  My teachers names are Ms. Stephanie or Ms. Amy (no, not Mommy).  I am not sure if I like it yet.  There are all these other kids there and they get things that I want, or they bump in to me and I fall down.  I'm not sure what to think!!  I do like when we go outside though.

Happy 5th Anniversary Mommy & Daddy!!!
September 6 , 2002
Mommy and Daddy got married 5 years ago today!  They don't have any big plans for celebrating except that we may go to Hershey Park when Mommy gets home from work!  They are going to see Jekyll & Hyde at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater on the 15th.  I don't know who is babysitting me yet.  I guess it will be a surprise...maybe Teri, Uncle Mark, Amanda?  Who knows.  Anyway, Happy Anniversary Mommy & Daddy...I LOVE YOU!!

I Am 14 Months Old!!
September 6 , 2002
Besides this being a BIG day for Mommy and Daddy, it's a BIG day for me!!  I'm 14 months old!!  I am getting so big!  Uncle Mark was saying that my arms are getting longer because he can now see my "tan lines" from my wrists!  HA HA!

As you know I am going to daycare now, 3 days a week.  I am still around 32 inches tall (guessing, haven't measured myself in awhile) and weigh about 24 pounds!  I love to eat.  I am getting better at feeding myself and can use the spoon a little bit but really not enough that it counts.  Some of my favorite foods are peanut butter sandwiches, bananas, nectarines, (any kind of fruit, really), waffles, French toast, (both with cream cheese) and scrambled eggs with ketchup!  Don't forget the ketchup!

I LOVE to play outside and with my trucks.  My block dump truck is my all time favorite.  I push it all over the living room and I like to dump the blocks.  I like to carry other things in there, like the remote, my cup and the funnel from the kitchen.  It makes a good horn, ya know?  I also like to sit and "read" my books.  I have 2 favorites (my big truck book and my let's drive a tractor book) but I like looking through all of them.

Some things I do that Mommy and Daddy say really show off my personality are:  I spin around and around and around and then fall down!  It's soo funny.  I like to show you my belly and give kisses.  But you have to be paying attention or you'll miss them!   I will use a blanket, towel, throw rug ( Mommy loves when I tear that up!) and put it over my head so you have to look for me!  Then I pull it off...SURPRISE!!!  I like to run around my bedroom...naked!!  Peeing on the carpet gets the best reaction...teehee!

I am FINALLY getting some more teeth.  We aren't sure which ones or how many yet, but they are on the top.  They don't bother me too much but I am really chewing on my fingers!  I am sure we will have a HUGE update for when that milestone is reached!!  I am using a "big boy" toothbrush now.  Although, my favorite is Daddy's electric one!!  I like to brush my teeth!  Sometimes Mommy lets me help brush hers!!

Well, that's what I've been up to the last month.  I'm sure I am forgetting something but you will just have to come visit me soon.  Daddy says that I am changing a lot every day!

Hershey Zoo
September 8 , 2002
Today, me, Mommy and Daddy went to the Hershey Zoo.  I got to see all kinds of cool animals.  We saw bison, elk, turtles, snakes, bears and ducks!  The bears were soo funny.  There were 3 of them and they would chase each other around and then jump in the pool for a swim.  We were able to watch them under the water too!  I also got to feed the ducks.  There were a lot of them and they really liked the corn!  None of the zoo's birds were out because of the West Nile Virus.  Quite a few birds had died this summer from the disease so as a precautionary thing, all of the healthy birds remaining were taken indoors to be vaccinated.  I get that done and I know their pain!!
After lunch, we went to the gift shop and Mommy and Daddy got me a book to keep my "flattened souvenir" pennies in.  It was a short trip but a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Fire Trucks!
September 28 , 2002
Mommy, Grammy, Pap-pap and Uncle JG took me to see some fire trucks!  We walked down to Community Bank on Derry Street for a "mini" fair that they were having in honor of Fire Prevention Week.  I got to look all around the fire truck.  I was allowed to sit inside and steer it and everything!  The fireman said that he would have to take me out with him on their next call.

The fire truck was really big!

Where Did the Month Go?
September 30 , 2002
I was a little bit shocked to notice that I hadn't updated the site since September 8th!!  I have just been too busy adjusting to new schedules and visiting with family and friends to get on the computer.

Daddy and Mommy are still working and I am enjoying going to "school" with Mommy.  I have made some friends, "Big" is my buddy.  We like to play outside with the cars.  The big kind that you can ride in and make go with your feet.

I have had lots of company this month...Grandma & Grandpa Proper, Uncle JG, Grammy & Pap-pap and Mike from Canada.  It was fun seeing everyone and showing them all my new tricks.  They especially like my "show me your belly" one.

I am FINALLY getting more teeth!  All four on top are deciding to break through at the same time.  I've been dealing with this for some time now and am beginning to lose my patience with them!  I just wish they would come in already!!!  Chewing my fingers seems to help but when the pain is too much...Mommy gives me some medicine.

We bought a new camera and should be able to start keeping up with the site a little better next month.  It's pretty nice.  It takes much better pictures and we can even do little video clips.  Those will be nice to have on here.
