April
2003 Journal
April
showers bring May flowers but I don't think that they meant
"snow showers"!! Can you believe that we are
still having cold and snowy days? I sure hope it stops
soon. Lots
of fun things planned for this month. Come back often to
read all about them! |

Grammy
& Pap-Pap Visit!
April 3rd
- 6th , 2003 |
|
Grammy &
Pap-pap came to visit me after my surgery and to help Mommy &
Daddy out with some things around the house. I was glad to see
them. They couldn't believe how fast I had bounced back from
my operation. I showed them my new bed and all of my cars,
both new and old. Pap-pap and I had a good time dancing.
He also let me pull on his goatee...baa!! Pap is pretty
funny. He is always in charge of grocery shopping when he
visits. Daddy says that he always gains a few pounds during
their stay! HA HA! You can be sure that the ice cream
and donut supply will be in stock! Grammy & me read books,
colored, decorated for Easter and she got me some cool new clothes
and PJ's. My favorites are the ones with "gucks" on
them! On Saturday, I took them to Gymboree. I had fun
showing off all of my climbing skills. Grammy liked watching
me climb and go down the slides.
We had
a nice visit and I can't wait to see them again at Easter.
Till then, I will be working on saying..."Grammy". I
already have "pap-pap" mastered!!

I'm
21 Months Old Today!
April 6 , 2003 |
|
Gosh, can you
believe that I am almost 2? I am already beginning to show
signs of independence. Something I am thrilled about, but I'm
not so sure what everyone else thinks. I try to get away with
some things but it doesn't go over too well around here. Like,
if I don't feel like moving. I will just sit down, lay down,
what ever makes it more difficult to be moved. Throwing my
sippy cup or food I don't want isn't happily accepted either?
Hmmm? I did get out of my crib as you all know...but this
sleeping in a new bed...ALL BY MYSELF... isn't as much fun as I
thought it would be. I love my new "carrr" bed, but
I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing. Daddy said I'm
going to have to cry it out one of these nights. I guess I'll
have to update you all on how that is going.
My teeth, all four molars are still working their way through.
I guess you can say that I have a total or 11 teeth. The
bottom two are almost completely in and the top two have just
started pushing in more this past week. So, I've been chewing
on everything! Even Mommy and boy, she was NOT happy about that.
Sorry, Mommy. Talking?
I am talking up a storm. I am saying new words every
day. I think Mommy said I am over 50 different ones now.
Some are the same and mean different things. For example
"Bob Bue" is Bob the Builder, Sponge Bob Squarepants and
Backpack. "Beps" are either steps or grapes.
"Daddy" is either Daddy or doggie. "guck"
can mean truck, stuck or duck. My newest words are
"pizza", "geek" (cheek), "muck" (Uncle
Mark or milk) and I've been working hard on "man-da"
(Amanda). Speaking
of Amanda...she, Daddy and Mommy have been working hard on the mural
for my play area in the basement. Hopefully, Daddy will get
all the pics of that up soon. They aren't finished yet but
will be before Easter. I haven't even seen it yet but I hear
it's pretty cool.
I have a couple new videos that I like to watch. One is Fisher
Price's Little People Discovering Things That Go! I got it
with the cool fire truck that Grandpa & Grandma Proper got me
for my operation. I LOVE it! I've watched it soo many
times that the VCR doesn't work anymore! I also got a new Baby
Einstein DVD, World Animals that I really like to watch! Mommy
and Daddy don't seem to get as excited over them as I do!
Well, I better go. It's going to be a busy month of growing and
learning!

Sleeping
In My Bed...Zzzz!
April 14 , 2003 |
|
Last night
was the first night that I slept all night long in my "big
boy" bed without waking during the night. I have been
sleeping in it for about 2 weeks now. Mommy and Daddy have
quit coming in to help me settle down since the weekend. So,
it only took me a few days to get adjusted. I like my bed but
I wouldn't say it's my favorite thing in the world...well, not yet
anyways. I don't like to sleep under the covers or with my
head on my pillow but I like them to be in there with me.
"Mr. Moo" and "bunkey" still keep me
company. I was waking up crying a lot and the last two days I
have been pretty happy and will read a couple books before Mommy
comes in to get me ready for the day. Daddy had to take the
changing table out of my room the other day because I climbed up on
top of it...heehee! I'm still fighting the nap and have been
only sleeping for about an hour and a half. Mommy hopes that I
go back to my 2 1/2 or 3 hour naps soon but she has also accepted
the fact that that may never happen again.

Check-Up
with Dr. Hollowell
April 14 , 2003 |
|
Today I had a
follow-up with Dr. Hollowell. It went really well. I was
just a little fussy but I soon realized that she wasn't doing
anything to me that hurt. She just squeezed my belly a little
bit and looked at my incision. She told Mommy that she longs
for the day when she walks in the door and I won't say,
"uh-oh". I'm not sure that day will come any time
soon....sorry Dr. Hollowell.
She is scheduling an ultrasound test for me at the end of this
month. We will keep you posted on how that turns out.

Springtime
At Hershey Park
April 18 , 2003 |
|
Me, Mommy,
Daddy, Grammy, Pap-pap, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Atina and Nickoli
went to Hershey Park. This was Nickoli's first trip
there. He got to ride the Merry Go Round...a few times...he
really liked it! I wish he could have ridden more stuff with
us but he is still too little. Maybe next year. The list
of things I can ride get longer each time we go! Tonight I
rode the rocket ship with Daddy, drove the cars, rode on the Giant
Wheel, the train, the busy bees (all by myself!) and played my first
park game and video game!! What fun we had! I can't wait
to go again. Daddy and Mommy said that maybe we would get
passes for the summer and go a lot! I hope we do!

Happy
Easter!
April 19 , 2003 |
|
Today is
Easter. My whole family was here. Grammy, Pap-pap, Uncle
JG, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Atina, Nickoli, Aunt Susan and Uncle
Allen. Uncle Will didn't make it. That was kind of a
bummer...I haven't seen him in a long time. Anyway, Nick and I
had fun getting our baskets from the Easter bunny. I got a
couple cars, bubbles, an I Spy book and a crawl through
tunnel!! And of course, LOTS of candy!! We visited and
ate a yummy dinner. Later Nickoli and I went outside and there
were colored eggs everywhere. The Easter Bunny must have
dropped them. I started to pick them up and open them...there
were jelly beans inside!! Yummy! I LOVE jelly
beans!! I was running all over the place picking up eggs and
stuffing my face full of beans. I could hardly talk and all
the grown-ups were pointing and laughing at me! Nickoli had
fun crawling around and following me. I opened one egg and it
had a dollar in it...well, you can't eat that...so, I gave it to
Grandpa.
I was soo tired afterwards, that I took a great nap.
Everyone headed home, except Grammy & Pap-pap. They are
staying for the week! That will be fun!
