June 2003 Journal

June only means one thing!  One more month until my birthday!  This year I will be TWO!!

Summer is to start this month...that is if it EVER stops raining!  Mommy isn't working for the summer so we will be doing lots of special things together.

Father's Day is this month and Mommy and I got Daddy a great present!!  He will be surprised...unless he has been snooping!!

I'm 23 Months Old Today!
June 6, 2003

One more month until I turn 2!  I am ready!  Mommy and me went shopping already for my party.  I picked out the decorations and Mommy is going to "try" and make my cake!  You will have to wait until next month to see.  I'm sure, if you know me at all, you can guess what the "theme" will be.
Let's see...what is going on new with me.  I am talking a lot and probably have a good hundred words in my vocabulary.  The newest ones are: water, more, please, moon, side (outside), diaper, play, red, and purple.  Mommy said that I am learning that every time I say please, doesn't necessarily mean I will get it.  I have also started to use 2 or 3 words together: "go, car, ride", "more, juice, please", "Daddy, play, please".
I am still all about my cars.  My Matchbox ones are my favorite.  I like to line them all up in a row.  When I am not playing cars, you can find me reading (my new favorite is The Little Engine That Could), coloring, playing with Playdough, ball and playing outside in my sandbox...with my cars (heehee).
I am sleeping great in my new bed and am fully adjusted to it.  I like to help Mommy make it in the morning.  My car sheets are my favorite.  I am also getting better at brushing my teeth.  I have 12 now and Mommy thinks that the rest will soon be here.  She said she can tell from the way I've been acting.
I haven't started that going to the potty business yet.  I am not too sure what I think about all of that.  Mommy said we need to wait until I see Dr. Hollowell again.  If all I need is the ultrasound, we are going to go buy a potty.  I kind of know what is going on....Daddy shows me and I like to imitate him.  Mommy says that I stand in a dangerous place...what ever that means!  I just don't know if I am ready to give up my diapers yet.  You have to stop playing to use the potty!!
Well, I am going to go for now.  I think June is going to be a bit calmer than last month...but you never know with us!

Father's Day
June 15, 2003
It's Daddy's second Father's Day today!  We had such a good time.  First off, I bought daddy 2 "daddy" shirts (one even has the Simpsons!).  I also got daddy a set of boxers to go with them.  There are cars all over them!  But the big present was a 6-person tent.  Mommy's gonna need eased into camping by going to a public camping site before we really go rough it, but Daddy says he's looking forward to it.  I can't wait.

After presents, Daddy got to choose an activity for the day, so we all got to go biking.....on the Greenbelt.  It's almost 20 miles around the loop, so I was a little worried about Mommy making it, since she's kind of new to biking.  But she did fine!  Daddy and I are both proud of her.

An Unexpected Visit!
June 16th-17th, 2003
We had a nice surprise visit from Aunt Atina, Uncle Will and Nickoli!  It was nice to see them again.  It was also pretty neat to see Nickoli walking all over the place.  He wasn't doing that the last time we saw him!
Anyway, we had a nice visit.  We all went out for dinner at The Red Robin.  I got to sit in a booster seat, instead of a high chair.  Mommy and everyone else were impressed with what a good boy I was!  I ate all of my dinner and was patient while everyone else ate!  We filled out a card for me to get a free meal on my birthday.  I hope the waiters and waitresses sing to me like they did other people in the restaurant.
After we got home, we celebrated my birthday...since they won't be able to make it in for my party next month.  The grown-ups thought it was pretty funny when I opened my first gift.  There was this ball of tissue paper...so, I guessed..."it's a diaper?"  Everyone laughed.  Daddy helped me unwrap it and I'm like, "ooh, wow!  rock?"  Everyone laughed again.  I'm told that they are actually called seashells.  They are for in my bathroom.  Mommy said that they are more for her.  I'm not sure how fair that is? HA HA!  Then Nickoli helped me finish opening my presents.  I got two puzzles.  One is the alphabet and the other are numbers.  I can do the number one all by myself.  The alphabet on is a little tougher.  I'm sure I will get it though.
I had a nice time playing with everyone.  Aunt Atina rates pretty high in my book.  She can play cars and make neat sounds when reading stories!!
I hope we get to visit them again soon.

My First Movie
June 22, 2003
Tonight, Me, Mommy, Daddy, "Uncle" Mark and Katie went to see a movie at the IMAX theater in the Whitaker Center.  I had never been to a movie before.  I got my own seat but was more comfy in my Mommy's lap.  Daddy bought me some popcorn too.  I shared it with everyone.  We watched a movie about the Coral Reef.  It was pretty cool.  I liked all the boats and the "bulldozer" crab was my favorite.  I was laughing at him really loud, so loud that Mommy was laughing at me.  Uncle Mark said that I was a good boy, and although I kind of "gabbed" the whole way through it...he never heard me.  I couldn't help myself...there were so many cool things to see that I had to make sure other people saw them too!
"Uncle" Mark Visits From Florida
June 21-24, 2003
"Uncle" Mark came back to Harrisburg for a few days to see me.  He "says" he had a wedding to go to and wanted to see Katie...but I know the truth.  It was to see ME!  I don't completely understand how he could move so far away from me, but that's his problem to work out.  Anyway, I was THRILLED to see him!!  We played a lot and I even got him to come outside and play in my sandbox with me.  We hung out a lot and had a good visit.
We especially had fun Monday night...it was his birthday.  The BIG 29!  Mommy got a special cake and I let him use my very extra-special car candles!!  The Martinelli's and Amanda all came over to celebrate.
We hope you had a nice visit with us Uncle Mark and we hope you can come back soon.
I LOVE YOU!!!
