Happy
Fourth
of July!
July 4, 2003 |
Happy
Independence Day everyone! We are in Kittanning for the
holiday weekend. Daddy will be going back to work for Monday
but I am staying here with Mommy for a few days. Today, we had
a picnic at Aunt Set and Uncle Owen Fox's house. I haven't
been there since I was only a few month old. So, it was really
like the first time for me. A lot of my family was there that
hasn't seen me in a long time. Who was there? Mommy,
Daddy, me, Uncle JG, Grammy, Pap, Aunt Set, Uncle Owen,
Cousins...Andrea, Brian, Brittany, Teresa, Tim, Andrew, Amanda,
Joel, Tina, Brenda, Mike, Nikki and Keri. Uncle Owen had a
cool tractor too...I had fun climbing on it. My cousins made
me a special banner for my birthday and a Bob the Builder
cake. It was yummy! I know this because I was allowed to
taste test the icing first! (See video clip!) The rain managed
to stay away for the most part...but when it did....look out!!
We were all trapped under the pavilion for some time. Good
thing Mommy brought my spray bottle...I had fun squirting every
one...especially Uncle Owen!

Pittsburgh
Zoo
July
5, 2003 |
This morning,
after breakfast of course, Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Pap-pap and me went
to the Pittsburgh Zoo. We saw all kinds of animals. My
favorite part was the Kids Kingdom. I got to pet a deer.
He was twice the size of me! Daddy said it was a "button
buck"...whatever that means? Anyway, my second favorite
thing was the petting zoo! Mommy said it was the nicest one
she has ever seen. I really enjoyed petting the sheep and
goats! I could have done that all day but we had lots more to
see! We saw monkeys, lions, bears, camels, elephants....I
could go on and on. No giraffes though...they weren't
out. We had yummy French fries for lunch and then I got to get
a cool zoo truck and animals before we left. It was a warm day
but we had a good time! The rain stayed away!!

Visiting
with Grammy & Pap-Pap
July
4-10th, 2003 |
A nice visit
with Grandparents is always nice. You get sooo spoiled!!
Besides the great fourth picnic and the trip to the zoo. We
did a lot of other stuff. After our adventurous day at the
zoo, we went down to Mert's house. (She is one of Grammy's
breakfast club girls). We went down to watch the big Ford City
parade. This was my second parade...but it put the Hummelstown
Halloween parade to shame. They had a lot of marching bands
and VERY cool fire trucks, army trucks and the best thing was the
Zem-Zem guys. They drove these little cars and motorcycles
around really fast....right in front of me!! It was
cool. Susie, another of the breakfast club girls, was there
with her granddaughters Lauren and Larissa. Larissa was in the
parade. Lauren helped me to get candy that the people in the
parade threw out for us!
The next day....Sunday! MY BIRTHDAY!!! We went for
breakfast at Kings. It was me, Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Pap-pap,
Susie, Larissa, Lauren and Kelly. I had some really good eggs
and an ice cream cone...for breakfast!?!?! That was
great! It was soo good! Then we went home and Crissy
Gibbons came up and spent the day. I opened some of my gifts
and we had fun playing with them. Grammy and Pap got me a
Fisher Price Car Wash play set, Little Tikes Fishing Set and a Magna
Doodle. Mommy and Daddy got me some Matchbox cars and a
Playdough "make a vehicle" set. Daddy had to head
back for home, so I had to say good-bye to him...but Crissy stayed
for a long time and played. Later, that night, Daddy
called. It took him almost 7 hours to get home. I guess traffic
was really bad.
The rest of the week we did a lot of running around and visiting
people. Mommy, Grammy and me went shopping at the mall.
We got to eat yummy pretzels there! We visited Aunt Kitty and
Uncle Harold. They had a cute doggie named "Billy"
and she got out some cool cars for me to play with. Uncle
Harold played with me too! We visited the neighbors, June and
Bill Schultz, Pap-pap and me played in the rain, went to Susie's for
a basket party and before we knew it, it was time to head back to
Harrisburg.

I'm
2 Years Old Today!!!
July
6, 2003 |
I am TWO
today!! Can you believe it!!! What am I up to?
Well....LOTS!! Mommy says I am a busy guy! Pap-pap
measured me at about 34 1/4 inches. I wasn't exactly
cooperative for this. We will get a better measurement at the
doctors office this month. I weigh about 27 pounds. My
size 2T clothes fit good but I have some 3T shirts and onesies
outfits. I have 12 teeth and 2 that are breaking the gum and 2
more that are showing signs of breaking thru soon!
Talking? I am talking up a storm...truck, car, tractor, wheel,
red, blue, black, yellow, purple, one, two, arm, eye, cheek, hello,
bye, please............so on and so on........
I still love my cars. They are my favorite toys. I do
like to color, play Playdough, and being outside in my sandbox is
the best! My favorite TV show is Dora the Explorer. My
favorite movie is Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. I love to read
books too. My favs are, of course, my truck books and I Spy.
I am learning a lot of new stuff. I can fasten my own belt in
my highchair, I know most of my colors, I just don't say them
all. I am learning shape, numbers and letters too! I
like to help clean up and help Daddy fix things around the house.
There is so much more now that I am able to do that I was this time
last year. Everyone says I am growing up too fast! I
think I am going at just the right pace!

Happy
Birthday to Me!! My Party!!
July
12, 2003 |
I had my big
party today! A lot of friends and family came to help me
celebrate. Let's see, there was: me, Mommy, Daddy, Grammy
& Pap-pap Wiles, Grandma & Pappy "Tractor" Proper,
Melonie & Ryan Fisher, Jen & Darrin Hartley, Amanda Deimler,
Jen, Todd, Jessica, Logan, and TJ, Bernie, Teri, and Alex
Martinelli, and Drew, Louise, Derrick & Julia Ciesielka!
It was a lot of people for our house but it was nice out, so we were
able to go outside for some of it.
First, we all ate some good food. We had chicken, corn, pasta
salads, veggies and fruit! I really liked the fruit. We
all went outside and tried to break the piņata! I needed
Daddy's help. Logan and TJ didn't have any luck. Jessica
knocked it clean of the hanger. So, Melonie pitched it to Alex
and he whacked it to pieces. Candy flew everywhere!! I
enjoyed most of this show from my sandbox! Next, Mommy dragged
me away from there to open my gifts. I got sooo much cool
stuff! All my friends are so good to me. I got some PJ's
and a musical guitar from the Hartley's. A chalk/wipe erase
board, bubble guns and chalk from Jen, Todd, Logan, TJ, Jessica and
Grammy Boltz. A Spider Man motorcycle and Incredible Hulk action
figures from the Martinelli's. A Bob the Builder counting
hammer from the Fishers. Potty training book/video and two Matchbox
rescue net cars from Amanda. Dora the Explorer "magna
doodle" and book from the Ciesielka's. A Little Tikes
gourmet kitchen, savings bond and John Deere tractor from
Grandparents Proper. A savings bond, some cars, Mr. Potato
head from Grandparents Wiles. Mommy & Daddy got me a
slide, dump truck shoes that light up, a choo-choo with stacking
blocks, word/picture cards, and Matchbox airplanes.
Some other gifts I got from people....a Matchbox ambulance and $5.00
from Pat Longwell. A Charlotte's Wed DVD, birthday bear, Sponge Bob
bathtub book, a Rainbow fish book and $20 from Susie, Larissa, and
Lauren Rice. $20 from Aunt Kitty and Uncle Harold. A Bob
the Builder t-shirt and hat, about 15 cars from Uncle Mark.
Seashells, number and letter puzzles from Aunt Atina, Uncle Will and
Nickoli McCoy. Two Lego sets, Dora the Explorer stuff from
Aunt Susan & Uncle Allen Proper. Travis Tractor and Scoop
from Alton Meeker. Books from Sam Lemmons. A BIG thank
you to everyone. I hope I didn't forget anyone!!
Before everyone left my party we had cake and ice cream. Mommy
and Daddy made my cakes. I had a fire truck and a dump truck
cake. They were both really nice! I really liked when
everyone sang Happy Birthday to me!! That was funny. I was
glad I had friends there to help me blow out my candles. Mommy
said, next year, I won't need any help!!

My
2 Year Check-Up with Dr. Besselman
July
17, 2003 |
I had to go to
the doctor's today. Not my most favorite place, but Mommy's
says I have to go to make sure I stay healthy. First, the
nurse had to weigh and measure me. I really did not cooperate
for this. I did a good job of showing her how
"strong-willed" I can be. She did manage to get my
measurements. I weigh 27 pounds (50th percentile) and am 35
3/4 inches tall (85th percentile). Dr. Besselman was very
happy with that. He is a pretty nice guy. He gave me 2
stamps....a choo-choo and a bunny. The choo-choo is my
favorite. He let me sit on Mommy's lap for my exam. I
was good for everything except for when he checked my ears and
mouth. I don't even like Mommy messing with those. He
said everything looks great! I showed him my incision
too. He said that it looks good and most of the redness will
be gone in a year. He checked how I walk and asked Mommy all
kinds of questions about me. He told her that I was a very
active, healthy and bright little boy. What a smart doctor I
have. I am to start taking something called
"vitamins" now. The best thing was I didn't get a
shot this time!! I don't have to go back there until next
year, well, unless I would get sick and have to see him. Mommy
let me have a lollipop for doing a good job.

Huge
Milestone!
July 19, 2003
|
|
I
played...HAPPILY...in the water for over an hour today!! Me,
Mommy and Daddy went on a spontaneous trip to Gifford Pinchot State
Park today! We packed up a picnic, threw our suits on and
off we went. The park is only 1/2 an hour away. It was a
nice, warm and sunny day. At first, I was a little nervous
about the water, but Mommy just kept walking in with me. I had
fun "swimming" from Mommy to Daddy. My favorite
trick was climbing up Mommy, crawling over her head and sliding down
over into Daddy's arms!!
Weeee!!

Ultrasound
Test and Follow-Up with Dr. Hollowell
July 31, 2003
|
I had another
post-surgery ultrasound test today. I REALLY do not like these
tests...but the doctor and technicians at this one were really nice
to me. I was allowed to stay in Daddy's and Mommy's arms
during the whole thing. I fought it for a bit but the
technician was able to distract me and keep me somewhat calm.
We had this test done at Community General Hospital...so, for the
record, I think I've been to all the hospitals in the area
now!!
We went to Dr. Hollowell's office next so she could tell us what is
going on. I was a good boy there and didn't fuss once!!
No one was messing with me there, that's why. I was allowed to
play while the grown-ups talked. Dr. Hollowell was happy with
what she saw. The upper pole looks great, no more dilation.
But we knew that before surgery, but since the re-implant it was a
concern that the ureter could become blocked. The lower pole,
the one with the reflux, still has signs of dilation but that was
okay. It probably always will have some. She could see
no signs of the reflux. That is what we are hoping for.
So, she took me off my medicine! Mommy and Daddy have to watch
for signs of an infection. If I would get one, then we will
need to have the dye test done to rule out the reflux. Hope
that never has to happen...that test is NO fun!! I am going
for another ultrasound in January. If she likes what she sees
then we will go once a year for a few years. Let's all hope
and pray for that one!!!
