September 2003 Journal

This month...the fast paced summer begins to slow down as we welcome in Fall.

Daddy and Mommy have a trip to New York City planned for their anniversary.  Grandma and Pappy Proper are coming to watch me too.  No other big plans are made...but that doesn't mean we won't be doing anything!

Mom and Dad leave me with my grandparents.
September 5 - September 7, 2003
Mommy and Daddy went to New York City for their anniversary, so Grandma and Pappy came down to baby-sit me for the weekend.  We had all kinds of fun, and I don't think they spoiled me that much.  We went to Toys R Us to get a new truck for me (cause I don't have enough trucks!) and we also went to McDonald's for a cheeseburger. Mmmm! Pappy even let me ride the little Bob the Builder ride they have at Wal-Mart.  They also took me to Gymboree and for ice cream.  Yummy!  I don't think I wore them out too much.

Meanwhile, Mommy and Daddy were in New York City.  They got to go see lots of things, like Central Park, FAO Swartz, Times Square, the world's largest Toys 'R Us store, Rockefeller Center, Madame Taussaud's Wax Museum, the Empire State Building, Macy's, The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  They even found time to see a show on Broadway, Mamma Mia.  They said they had lots of fun, but they couldn't wait to get home to see me...I guess they missed me.  They were pretty tired out though, but I think they're caught up on their sleep now.

A Trip to the Train Museum
September 14, 2003
Mommy & Daddy decided to take me to Strausburg to visit the train museum there.  We had been down a few months ago but all we did was ride the train.  Well, when we got there we soon discovered that is was "A Day Out With Thomas!".  This of course meant lots of people and exciting things going on!  We got there just in time to see Thomas go chugging down the tracks.  "Choo-Choo", I said and waved as he passed us.  I really had a great time.  I got to see all kinds of trains...some working and some not.  I saw a fire truck, police car, clowns and an actual working turn-table.  That was pretty cool how they turned the big train car around!  We didn't ride Thomas, as we got there too late to get tickets...but I had more fun watching him chug by.  Another of my favorites was going in the museum and seeing the giant...and they are giants...up close.  We were allowed to go in some of them too!  I got a cool engineers hat that I wore the whole time!!  PLUS...I get excited talking about all this as it comes back to me....they had model trains set up that I was able to push buttons and make go around the tracks!  That was great!  THEN...they had toy ones set up for kids to play with...I could have stayed there all day.  I was NOT happy when Mommy said it was time to go!!  Everyone in the gift shop knew it!  I can't wait to go back there!  Daddy said we would probably visit that place a lot...yea!!!!
Uncle Mark Comes to Visit!
September 14 - 15, 2003
"Uncle" Mark came all the way from Florida to see me!!  Yes, just me...I don't care what he tells other people and it was ABOUT TIME!!!  He got here on Sunday evening, so I was telling him all about "choo-choo's".  We played and I showed him all of my new toys, tricks and words.  He was surprised to see how smart I have become!  He had no idea I could learn things so fast.  I especially impressed him with my ability to play my Tonka computer game...all by myself!  And that I know how to put the DVD's in the player...although, I'm not really allowed to be doing that!!
On Monday, we played all morning until I had to take my nap.  I went to work with Mommy while Daddy and "Uncle" Mark went to a movie.  I was surprised when they came and picked me up at FunCare and took me out to eat wings with them at KoKoMo's!  We had a nice visit, although it was a short one.  He thought, maybe, we would see him at Thanksgiving...but we aren't sure.  I hope so!  If not, Mommy and Daddy said we are going to try and visit soon...early 2004!
Taking Amanda to the Country!
September 19-21, 2003
A last minute decision to road trip to Grandparents Proper's house.  I asked Amanda if she wanted to come along too and she said, "sure"!  We drove up Friday evening and were lucky to miss most of the Hurricane Isabel weather.  The weekend ended up being really nice and the weather was beautiful!  We hooked up the old tractor to the wagon and rode out in the woods.  I showed Amanda all around while Daddy was cutting up some logs with a chainsaw and talking hunting strategies with Grandpa!  We found all kinds of interesting things, mushrooms growing on logs, ferns, salamanders, grasshoppers, rocks, acorns and caterpillars!  I took a nap while Mommy, Daddy and Amanda set up the tent.  We were originally planning on camping out but the weather dropped to the low 40's, which was entirely too cold for me!  So, we just set it up to make sure we knew how and had all the stuff.  I really liked playing and running around in it.  My favorite thing to do was to run from one side to the other and hit the side and fall down!  Playing peek-a-boo with the flaps was fun too!  I sure do hope we get to go camping soon!  Just seems as if the weather isn't cooperating with us!  Anyway, for dinner Daddy and Grandpa built a fire and we roasted hot dogs.  Yummy!  Grandma made me some macaroni and cheese too!  After we ate Daddy got the John Deere out and took me for a ride.  After a while on there he let go of the steering wheel and let me drive.  I did pretty good.  I turned when I was supposed to turn.  Going around the big tree in the front yard was my favorite and driving between the tires too!  I also liked to drive right between the gooseberry bushes...it was a tight squeeze but I did good.  Mommy said that my computer game that I love to play must have helped with that!  Well, before we knew it...it was Sunday...time for croquet.  Amanda and Grandpa were all talking trash.  Grandma won and Amanda lost!  But we all had fun!  I was too busy chasing butterflies!  We left around 6:30 and it was a long drive home but I had Amanda to keep me company!  Maybe she will want to come back with us someday!  It was a nice visit.
