November 2003 Journal

We have no big plans this month.  Going to take it easy and do some Christmas shopping and cleaning around the house.

I am looking forward to seeing Uncle Mark this month and Turkey Day!  Mommy wonders if I will even try some turkey this year...probably not!

I still have swimming classes this month so I will keep you updated on how those are going.

Swimming Lesson #4
November 4, 2003
Mommy took me swimming again today.  I didn't enjoy them so much this week.  I have been trying to get over a pretty good cold...so my mood just wasn't up for it all.  We did do a lot of cool things though.  I am getting good at the "If You're Happy and You Know It" song.  I still really like to hold on tight to Mommy when trying new stuff.  Today, I learned how to scoot myself along the pool wall....grab and slide...grab and slide.  I did okay with that.  I did not enjoy Mommy taking me under the water, so we only did it once.  I'm afraid next week...I will have no choice.  I willingly and happily went down the Froggy Slide...Weeee!  Oh, yea we also were given two toys and Mommy would toss them in the water in front of me and I had to reach out for them.  I wasn't too sure of that game...again, I'm sure it was because of my cold.  Last, Joanne turned on the sprinklers in the wading pool!  WOW...it was much more fun to watch them than go under them....the water was cold!  Mommy held me and we just walked around.  Although, I am still not a huge fan of the water...you could safely say that I am enjoying myself but am ready to go when class is over.
Swimming Lesson #5 (well, for me)
November 18, 2003
I missed last weeks swimming lesson, since I have been fighting some kind of cold for about forever now.  Mommy and I did make it today though.  I didn't do too bad at all.  We played "People in the Pool" (kind of like "Wheels on the Bus"); practiced kicking, laying on our backs (I absolutely hate that one); went under the water to "Ring Around the Rosie" (I wasn't thrilled, but didn't cry, Mommy & I did that twice); jumped from the sitting position off the side of the pool (Mommy put me under the water twice with that one, then I figured it out and wouldn't sit up on the side anymore); practiced reaching for toys and "swimming" to Mommy with Ms. Joanne ( she put me under the water too!); went down the "Freddie the Frog" slide twice...both times going under the water at the end.  I was getting cold and was ready to go when class was over.  Mr. Steve told Mommy that as long as I am not resisting things, I'm fine.  So, I guess you can say that I am doing pretty good.  Only 2 more classes to go!  I hope I don't miss anymore.
Swimming Lesson #6
November 25, 2003
Swimming again today.  This is our next to last class.  I wasn't too happy in the beginning...I kept telling Mommy "out, out" but she was ignoring me!  So, we stayed.  First, we did "People in the Pool" again...and I enjoyed that.  Once Mommy bounced me up and down in the water to the deeper part...I was much happier.  We practiced kicking and blowing bubbles.  I still won't lay on my back...no way!  I liked holding on to the wall and sliding back and forth...Mommy doesn't even have to hold on to me then.  I went under the water lots this week...with minimal complaint.  We did "Ring Around the Rosey" (I went under 3 times...Mommy too!), I jumped, well from the sitting position, from the side of the pool lots of times but only went under once, Mr. Steve did that reach for Mommy trick while holding me and put me under the water and I had to "swim" to Mommy.  He said I did a great job...I didn't know what to think about that!  I slid down Freddy the Frog slide and really went under the water there!  Mommy was supposed to catch me and she missed...but I didn't complain at all!  Before we knew it, class was over.  I liked the end because we got to play with balls in the water.  I had fun throwing them at Mommy and splashing her in the face with the water!  HIGH FIVE!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
November 27, 2003
We stayed in Harrisburg this year for Thanksgiving.  Things worked out nice since Uncle Mark was coming back to PA to see his parents for the holiday...so, we were invited to spend the day with his family.  We spent the morning getting things ready to go.  I did watch the parade for a little while.  I liked dancing with the Rockette's.  Daddy and me spun around in circles and did some high kicking!  It was  a pretty funny sight to see.  Anyway, we left here around 1 o'clock in the afternoon and headed to Downingtown.  It only took us about an hour to get there.  Mark was sooo excited to see me.  I was a little nervous at first but it didn't take me long to remember who he was.  I got all kinds of attention from the people there...they could not get over how handsome, polite and well-behaved I was.  Mommy and Daddy said I was a VERY good boy...considering.  Uncle Mark's parents house isn't a place for little guys like me!  Although I had a peanut butter sandwich, I sat very nicely at my seat.  Didn't break any of the good china, silver or crystal that decorated the place settings!  My favorite was the yummy chocolate cake that Mark's Aunt brought for dessert.  Micheal, as I liked to call Mark's Daddy...really liked Mommy's sweet potatoes.  He said he doesn't usually enjoy them.
We hung around for quite awhile visiting and playing.  I told Mark's Mommy all the letters that I know.  She said that I am very smart!  It was soon time to go and I was excited to leave because Uncle Mark was coming home to our house!

"Ah-Manda"
November 28, 2003
I decided it was about time to make my most favorite babysitter happy.  We were all in the Pathfinder on our way up to Erie.  It was Me, Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Mark and Amanda.  We were playing the "who's that game"....I named everyone in the car, but when Amanda asked me her name, I said my classic..."nooo".  Uncle Mark asked me everyone's name the next time around and he pointed to her and I said...."Ah-Manda"...and just laughed and laughed.  Everyone cheered.

**Now only Grammy and Grandma have to wait for their big day...heehee**

Happy Thanksgiving ~ Take Two!
November 28-30th, 2003
Me, Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Mark and Amanda all went to my Grandparents Proper for the weekend and to have another Turkey Day celebration!  Uncle Mark drove part of the way and Daddy did the rest.  The weather was lousy they entire trip...rainy and dark but we didn't hit any traffic.  I did a great job for the car ride up...partly thanks to my company in the back seat and my Christmas gift from Grandparents Wiles (DVD/TV player).  We watched Sponge Bob and Toy Story!  I also took a little nap...but not as big of a one that Amanda took!!  She slept almost the entire trip!
Anyway, Grandma and Paw-Paw (that is what I call him now, I just can't seem to make up my mind on what his name should be) were happy to see all of us...even Amanda and Uncle Mark!  Right away I attacked the toys....and made myself at home.  Daddy fixed spaghetti for dinner and everyone enjoyed watching me eat that.  I sure was a big mess.
It had started to snow Friday evening before we all went to sleep...well, Mommy woke around 6:30am and the electric was out and there was about 6 inches of very wet and heavy snow on the ground!  Paw-paw lit the fire place and kerosene heater and we all hung out in the living room to stay warm.  I didn't notice the cold so much, I was too busy running around playing. Daddy and Pa were busy driving the tractor down to the creek so we would have water to flush the potty with.  Daddy bundled me up and we played outside in the snow for quite a long time.  It was fun.  I just had some trouble walking and didn't like it when I fell down. The electric came back around noon-ish....when we where supposed to be eating our turkey!  So, Grandma started cooking again and we had a very late dinner, but it was still nice.  I of course, was tired since I refused my nap and was very crabby....so I had the bested "Thanksgiving" dinner ever....M&M's and Smarties...yum!
Grandpa thought that was pretty funny, since he told everyone that he works with that his grandson likes M's so he was going to give them to me no matter what my parents said!  We all laughed about that for awhile.
We had to get back on the road early Sunday since Daddy had a hockey game to be back for.  It was a nice visit but too short.  Daddy is coming back up for hunting and I might get to come with him.  I hope so...but I will miss Mommy!
