2004 Journal
Boy!
Did May get here fast! We have been so busy at the end
of April that getting the journal started this month has been
a real challenge.
This months plans and goals are to get the website updated
from our vacation and move into the new house. So bear
with us!

The
Big Move
May
1, 2004 |
Today, we moved
to our new house in Palmyra. Grandma & Pa-Pa Proper, Uncle
JG, Jen & Darrin Hartley and Amanda all helped out! It was
a long day but the weather was good, spirits were up and everyone
worked really hard. I even helped the best I could. I
liked running around in the truck and up and down the ramp. It
took us about 12 hours total to get everything from the old house
and in to the new one.
Mommy & me fixed up my room the way I wanted it and I like it a
lot. I picked the room at the front of the house. I have
two windows that I can look out of and watch the construction
workers across the street building a house.
Now, we just need to get everything put away! Mommy said that
it is going to take forever!

Senators
Game
May
4, 2004 |
|
Mommy, Daddy and
me met Jen & Darrin at a Senator's baseball game on City Island
tonight. Darrin won free tickets and asked us to go!
They also had some friends from there church there too! I
really enjoyed myself and was a very good boy...got all kinds of
compliments on my behavior :). Unfortunately, the Senators
lost the game but not by too much...we just couldn't get around the
bases! On the way out after the game some guy gave my his foul
ball that he caught. That was very nice of him! I hope
we can go back and I want to take Uncle JG to one sometime!

A
New Tooth!
May
5, 2004 |
Finally, my top
left 2nd molar is cutting through. Mommy felt it last
night. It explains a bit of my moodiness and runny nose.
I certainly hope that these top ones come in faster than the bottom
two did! They took forever and bothered me the most of any of
my teeth coming in

Happy
Mother's Day!
May
9, 2004 |
Happy Mother's
Day, Mommy! Daddy and me made Mommy some cookies the other
night. They were yummy but Mommy & me enjoyed eating the
batter more. Daddy couldn't scoop it out fast
enough...heehee. Daddy got Mommy some really nice flowers
too.
This morning, Daddy made us some pancakes for breakfast and I gave
Mommy her present. I got her a new chain for her "Cole
buddy" charm...the other one had broken. Uncle Mark came
in to visit us, he was in town for a wedding over the weekend, so we
all went and did some geocaching. I ended up falling asleep so
I missed almost all of the ones we did...oops! We did find a
nice one on a path in Hershey, near the police academy. I got
a really cool boat from another one we found. Later, Amanda
came over and we went for ice cream...we ended up getting stuck in a
really bad thunderstorm! It was a good thing we were under a
little awning or we would all have been soaked!
We hope Mommy had a great day and I LOVE YOU MOMMY!
Happy Mother's Day to Grammy & Grandma too!

Geocaching
Adventure #...Too Many to Count Now.
May
16, 2004 |
We decided to go
back to that trail we went to on Mother's Day to do another cache
called "Chocolate Moose". It was a "multi"
and that means it has numerous parts you have to find in order to
locate the final "prize". This one had 6 parts to it
and took us completely around the mile long path. Me, Mommy
and Daddy were searching in, around and under trees...trying to stay
hidden from people. It is quite the popular path. We
were pretty good at it. We had some trouble reading the clues,
as some of them had gotten wet, but we managed. Funny thing
is, we ended up in the exact same spot as Mother's Day! Turns
out, we found the wrong one then (We thought we had found Keystone
Happy). The two are very, very close together. So, we
found both of them and signed the logbooks. I got a really
cool seahorse toy, from Finding Nemo and we left two
mini-cars. Even with all the
confusion, it was a fun day and we only had two ticks try and hitch
a ride home with us!! Good thing Mommy had that bug spray!!!
**This was our 64th find**

CowParade
2004
May
23, 2004 |
What's a
CowParade, you ask? Well...there are 130 life-size statues on
the streets. Each one has been painted by a local artist in a
design selected by the cow's sponsor. The cows are grazing in
spots around Carlisle, Harrisburg, Camp Hill, Hershey and
Gettysburg. On June 26th they will be auctioned during a gala
event at the Farm Show Complex and pastured in a permanent
location. So, Amanda, her roomie, Cory, Mommy, Daddy and me
decided to go and check them out before they are gone. We
spent all day walking around the city and enjoying some delicious
hot dogs at "The Spot". It was a very hot but fun
day! All together we "spotted" about 60 cows.
They all were really neat to see...and I had my favorites, like the
one covered with pennies. Amanda and I had fun
"picking" the cows noses and chasing each other
around...heehee, silly Amanda's games.
We are going to try and make it to Hershey to see the ones that are
there before they are gone forever!

Cole's
Ultrasound
May
27, 2004 |
I had my
follow-up test today at Hershey Medical Center. We needed to
bump it up a few months because of Daddy losing his job and Dr.
Hollowell leaving the state. Anyway, I did a GREAT job!
The ultrasound technician, Sal, was a really nice and funny guy and
he made the test a breeze. I didn't even wince about it
once! It also helped that I had a new Thomas catalog (Thanks,
Grammy) to take with me! Mommy was soo proud of me.
Daddy couldn't go with us...he had to work. Then, off we went
to Hollowell's office. She couldn't get over how handsome I am
getting. I amazed her with my puzzle putting together
abilities...she thought I did pretty good for being 2. Anyway,
I really don't have much else to tell you until she calls Mommy
& Daddy at home. The disc printout of my tests was really
too dark for her to give an accurate reading, so she is waiting to
talk with the technician and people at Hershey. She didn't see
anything alarming...though there was some fullness in my right
kidney (ugh) but that was (she was almost positive) because I had to
pee. She still would like us to follow up every year with a
test and watch for infections. She said it's a good sign that
we haven't seen any so far. But since the function of the
lower part of my kidney was soo low, it needs to be watched.
As soon as we talk to her and get more information...we will let you
know.

The
Circus!
May
29, 2004 |
It's good to
know people who work for Hershey! Amanda does...and she was
able to get us 4 free tickets to the circus! We are all about
FREE nowadays. Anyway, we went to see the 134th Ringling
Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus! We went last year, but I
really don't remember it too much. I had a lot of fun.
We got to go outside the arena and meet some of the animals up
close. The elephants were my favorite. Daddy said there
is something a little unsettling about a small chain-link fence and
some rope between us and them! I didn't care, I liked watching
them use there trunks to eat and throw sand on themselves. We
went inside, and you could go down to the stage and meet the clowns
and other circus people up close. We were kind of late for
that...and didn't see much, but did catch some cool juggling acts.
It was soon time to take our seats and for the show to begin.
I was especially happy when Daddy brought me some cotton
candy. I had been asking for it all day! Yummy! I
really enjoyed the show...it was exciting and fun. My
favorites were the motorcycle guys and the clowns were pretty funny
too!
Thanks again to Amanda for thinking of us!
**Oh, the batteries in our camera died...so we only got one
picture. Hopefully, Amanda's come out okay and we can get
copies from her to scan on here soon **

A
Fun Memorial Day Weekend
May
30, 2004 |
Besides Daddy
getting a new mower (Thanks Grammy & Pap-Pap) and me helping him
mow the grass (whew, it was hard work!), cleaning out the garage and
going to the circus....our Memorial Day weekend has been a lot of
fun! This morning we got up and Mommy made (with my help)
pancakes for breakfast...yummy. We drove over to a small
little resort town, Mt. Gretna, that isn't very far a way.
It's nice little wooded area. We did some geocaching
there. Boy, you can really hear the cicada there. They
were really loud. You can't hear them at home, sometimes we
could even hear them in the car with the windows up! We found
a lot of them (dead and alive) along the paths we were
walking.
We ate lunch at the Jigger
Shop...it was a really neat place. I had some good fries
and some chocolate ice cream! Mommy and Daddy both had their
famous "Jigger" sundae.
After that busy morning, I fell asleep on the way home...so we all
took naps. Early evening we picked up Amanda and headed to
Hershey to find some more cows from the CowParade. We only
found 4 of them...so we aren't sure how we missed the others that
were on the map...maybe they got "mooo-ved"?
heehee! We did some more geocaching around Hershey and while
we were at Chocolate World checking out the cows....we HAD to go
inside. We went on the tour, for me it's like seeing it for
the first time, although Mommy says I've been there lots! We
did get to try out their new display, called Factory Works. I
got to be an official Hershey employee and fill "kiss"
containers that needed to be shipped out to stores. That was
fun!
What a nice, long and fun day. Not sure what we will do
tomorrow...as the threat of rain is to be over our heads all
day!
