June 2004 Journal

Now that Daddy is out of work, Mommy is working full time and I am going to daycare...we have been pretty busy.  Getting to sit down at the computer is a real challenge!

We will try to keep you all updated on our adventures as soon as we can!

Daddy
June 1, 2004
It's official...Daddy's job is over.  He got to go in today for a few hours and gather his things.  I'm not too sure what is going on...no one around here is acting sad or anything like that.  All I know is that I get to go to work with Mommy all day and sometimes stay home with Daddy!  We get to do guy things, like play trains, cars, mow the grass and I even used my tractor in the back yard to help plant new grass seed.  Daddy even let me play in the big mud pile at the back of the house!  We have gone geocaching together and to "Cocoa Castle" in Hershey.  It's a pretty cool playground!

FunCare Days
June 10, 2004
Mommy started working full-time at FunCare on June 1st.  She is teaching the one year olds.  She has 4 children, sometimes 5...and they are a busy bunch.  Anyway, I get to go all day too!  My teacher is Ms. Michele and sometimes Ms. Tammy...depending on the day.  I love it there!  We do so many fun things.  We have water play and our playground gets a HUGE water puddle in the middle that is soo much fun to run through!  We have pizza party day & sub day.  Mr. Frosty, this great big ice cream truck comes!  Yummy!  Friday, is Jumpin' Jitney...a big pink/blue bus that has been renovated (whew, big word) into a traveling gym!  I LOVE THAT BUS!!!  Then we have some other special events...like this month I will get to go to a magic show!  I can't wait!!

My teacher told Mommy how good I am doing.  She said I play so nice with others, I clean up my toys, I am a quiet napper!  I have even been eating my lunches...and Michele got me to eat TWO GREEN BEANS!  I think Mommy almost fell over.  As for going to the potty, I am not there yet.  A lot of my friends go...mostly the girls...but not everyone.  I do talk about the potty a lot more and bodily functions...so, maybe I will get rid of these diapers I love so much...soon.

And....as soon as I turn 3.  I get to ride on the bikes and scooters!  Mommy already took my helmet in to school...so, I will be ready to go!

Fleetwood Mac Concert
June 12, 2004
Amanda won tickets through her work to the Fleetwood Mac concert in Hershey.  I think she said she sold the most golf packages, or something like that.  She works for Guest Services...so if you want to make reservations and such...she's your "woman".  Anyway, she had two 19th row tickets and was kind enough to ask Mommy if she wanted to go.  OF COURSE....who would pass up free tickets to a sold out event!?!?!

I was in bed when Mommy got home...but she said she had a really good time.  The weather was perfect for it, since it was outdoors at the Hershey Stadium.

I told Daddy that he should get a job with Hershey....if not, for the great incentives....but I bet I could have chocolate all the time!!

Hid Our FIRST Geocache Series!
June 13, 2004
We finally got around to making our own geocache series.  Daddy was inspired by a few caches he and Uncle Mark had found in Florida and used them as an example.  Our first hide is a series of 4 stops...the first 3 are micro-containers (very, very small...made from a ballpoint pen and only fit a very small log in them) each hidden with a number to a combination lock in them.  The final hide, is a traditional container, an ammo box, filled with all kinds of $1 camping/hiking things.  It, of course, is locked with a combination lock.  It took Daddy awhile to find some good hiding spots and Mommy & me helped him all day yesterday to find places for the micros...we came up with some really good spots.  It will be interesting to watch people find them and what they think.  As far as we know, there are no micro containers around here like the ones Daddy made.  We named the series "Big Bad Wolf" and the micros are "The 3 Little Pigs".  If you would like to check out our "cache" and see how it is going....click here.

Our Captain America Travel Bug
June 14, 2004
Mommy had gotten Daddy a "Travel Bug" for Easter.....oh, what's a travel bug?  It's a trackable tag that you attach to an item.  (Ours is a Captain America mini racecar).  This allows us to track him on Geocaching.com.  He then becomes a hitchhiker that is carried from cache to cache (or person to person) in the real world and we can follow his progress online.  Some travel bugs have "tasks"...one Bug's goal may be to reach a specific country, or travel to 10 countries...Captain America just wants to visit as many places as he can and hopefully get pictures of people's favorite hometown places or landmarks.  Each Bug has his own "diary" that follows its movements.

We just launched him early this evening and someone has ALREADY picked him up!  I can't wait to see what adventures he takes!  If you'd like to see where he's been, check out his adventures by clicking here.

Grammy & Pap-Pap Visit
June 16-20, 2004
Mommy had this week off of work, and Daddy still isn't working...so, Grammy & Pap-Pap decided to come visit.  Pap-Pap hadn't seen the house yet and Grammy was only here before we moved in.  It was nice to see them.  I haven't seen Pap since Christmas.  I sure have gotten a lot bigger since then!  They brought me some new Thomas stuff!  I was excited to see Diesel 10 when I opened the bag.  I have been asking Mommy for him for weeks!  I also got some new clothes and stuff but I really don't care about that kind of thing.  Mommy was more happy about that.  We played a lot of trains!

It was a nice visit and I hope to see them at my birthday party in July!  Yea!

Dr. Hollowell Update
June 17, 2004
Dr. Hollowell finally has gotten back to us about Cole's ultrasound in May.  She was unable to really read the scan and wanted to talk with the technicians at Hershey.  He was on vacation, then she was on vacation...and finally we have communicated.

Everything looks GOOD, and there is no dilation in that kidney (meaning it's fixed correctly).  She still wants us to get one more ultrasound in March, 2005 and hopefully that will be it.  Unfortunately, she is moving to Virginia, but she said we can just have the ultrasounds sent down to her.  No problem!
Our 100th Geocache Find!
June 18, 2004
Tonight we headed out to find our 100th Geocache!!  Grammy went with us...so, it was her first (and possibly last...continue reading).  This cache took us to the very nice Union Canal Park.  We arrived at dusk, so it was getting a little dark.  I enjoyed watching all of the fireflies...there were thousands of them!  Anyway, I think we parked in the wrong spot because we had quite a walk to the "cache" area.  All past logs had mentioned the nice level walk...ours was not.  Daddy was holding the GPS and wondering around bushwhacking in the dark thorny woods...while Grammy stood there and pointed to a pile of rocks.  "Hey, maybe it's under those 3 rocks?"....Daddy, kind of laughing at Grammy like, what does this "first time Geo-Grammy think she knows?....so, just to amuse her, I'm sure, went and checked it out...and SURE ENOUGH...it was there!  Grammy was happy!  She said that although the pile of rocks was natural...there were three that looked "placed".  YEA GRAMMY!!!  We will turn you into a Geocacher yet!  Although, next time we will choose a more flat terrain...we thought we were going to lose you coming up that HUGE hill on the way home.  Don't feel bad...even I was winded after that walk!  whew!

Julia Turns Two!
June 19, 2004
Today, Mommy, Daddy & me went to Julia C's 2nd birthday party.  It was at their new house in Annville...which is about a 5 minute drive from us!  It turned out to be a very nice day, with the threat of rain finally blowing over!  I had a good time playing with all the kids and Julia's brother Derrick!  They had a TON of food...they even sent us home with a bunch!  Julia's party had a "tea party" theme...so we all had fancy hats to wear...problem was, the wind kept blowing them off!  I got Julia a My Little Pony book, some stickers and some pretty fancy hair things that I picked out for her.  I hope she likes them.  I can't wait to see and play with them again.  I miss our playdates, but things have been so hectic around here.  I do hope they can all come to my party in July!

Happy Birthday Julia!

Happy Father's Day!
June 20, 2004
First, I would like to wish Daddy, Pap-Pap and Pa-Pa a VERY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  I hope you all enjoyed your very special day!

We spent the day Geocaching today.  We did a record (for us) 12 caches today.  We had a great time and found quite a few places we didn't know about.  That's what we really like...just getting out of the house and exploring places we wouldn't have gone to otherwise.

FunCare Magic Show
June 24, 2004
I got to see my very first magic show today!  It was great!  The magician was soo funny.  He made me laugh a lot!  He did some really cool tricks with balloons and even sang and played the banjo.  Mommy wasn't able to see the show, since her class of kids are too little.  I was sure to tell her how cool it was!  My favorite was when he poured water in the cup and made it disappear!  WOW!

It's Official...I'm A Simpson's A-holic!
June 25, 2004
Mommy says that I now fit in with the likes of Daddy, Uncle Mark, Bernie and the Fisher's for being able to quote Simpsons references during any life situation.  I've done it twice this week.  Once, I called Mommy "Mr. Burns" (she wasn't so sure that was a compliment!) and last night I walked over with a play plate...pretended to throw it on her face...made a funny sound...laughed...and said, "I'm Pie-Man!"  Now, for those of you who have not watched your fair share of The Simpsons', will probably not get the joke...but I am SURE that the above listed friends are laughing their Simpsons loving butts off!

Another thing...(being spoiled by TIVO)...I can't STAND commercials interrupting my Simpsons' episodes.  I am working hard on not throwing such a fit and asking Daddy to nicely fast forward...but it's been hard.  I usually am known for just yelling "SIMPSONS" as soon as the first beat of the commercial begins!  Luckily, I don't do this too much for anything else.  It's a good thing because Mommy said if I did...no more TIVO fast forwarding for me!  She said when she was a kid....she used to have to wait for the show to come back on and "watch" commercials!  I can't believe it!

Atlanta at Baltimore game.
June 26, 2004
Mommy and Daddy took me to the Orioles and Braves games today in Baltimore.  We rode down with Jen and Darrin, and then met Ryan, Melonie, Scott, Jen and their kids at the stadium.  We had a great time, even though Baltimore ended up blowing a 7-0 lead to lose 8-7.  After the game, we all went to ESPN Zone at the Inner Harbor to eat.  Sam and I played together, and Mommy said I was very well behaved all day....just like always!
