2004 Journal
Brrr...it's
getting cold. We don't have many plans for this month,
but we are going to Pa-Pa's and Grandma's for Thanksgiving at
the end of the month. Maybe I'll even eat some turkey
this year.

Daddy's
Trip to Montreal
October
29 - November 1, 2004 |
Daddy went up to
Montreal to visit some friends. He got to visit his friends
Mike, Kirsten, Caia, Bernie, and Uncle Mark. He mostly played
cards (Hearts and some Texas Hold 'Em) but got to do a little
sightseeing also. He said he had a good time, even though
everything is in French up there and he couldn't read
anything. He brought me home a sweatshirt, a Montreal
Canadiens hockey stick, and a little Canadian Bus toy. I sure
did miss him, and was glad when he finally got back home.

What's
New With Me?!
November
6, 2004 |
Well, since I am
40 months old today, it seemed like a good and overdue time to do a
little update "all about me". I am growing like a
bad weed and Mommy wonders when I am going to slow down. I
weigh about 34 pounds and Pap got a quick measure on me of about 40
inches but that might be a bit much. Sorry, I don't stand
still long enough for a good measure! I am wearing 3T's in
pants and 4T's in shirts. I am completely potty trained.
I can dress myself, put on my own coat and shoes but still need some
help with fastening buttons, zippers and such. I talk all the
time now...funny how Mommy used to be able to keep track of my new
words...now, it's just a matter of wondering how I learned to use a
certain word...heehee. I love to keep them guessing. I
do have some catch phrases, not all of which Mommy likes. I
like to salute when told to do something and say, "yes,
sir....for duty!" I give the occasional
"bull-ya!" comment and "so long suckers!" (
Mommy blames Daddy for that one but I think I have picked up some
from Nickelodeon)
I am definitely trying my parents patience with me. We are
working on me not getting so upset about things. I don't like
to be told no and often wonder why I am NOT the boss around
here. Hey, can't blame a kid for trying! It just doesn't
seem to work...Mommy and Daddy stick together on everything when it
comes to me!
I still am not a good eater...sorry. There are a few select
things that I enjoy. I love peanut butter and/or jelly
sandwiches (sometimes open face and definitely without the crusts),
go-gurt yogurts, Dannon yogurt drinks, OVALTINE (must be hot),
waffles, toast, the occasional pop-tart, spaghetti, French fries
with ketchup and a chocolate milk shake, pizza, fruit (almost any
kind but you never know when I will eat that!). Of course I
love ice cream...just plain chocolate is the best. Daddy and
Mommy have been working on me sitting at the table and at least
trying what they fix before I can leave the table or get anything
else that night before bedtime...that seems to be working a little
bit...but I am pretty stubborn and usually KNOW what I like and
don't like! Mommy still has no idea how she was "blessed
with a picky eater!"
I am still going to work with Mommy. My teacher's name is Ms.
Michelle and she is sooo nice. I have a lot of friends in my
class. Desi, Isaac, Nikita, Patrick, Amanda, Owen, and
Jakob. We are learning all kinds of fun things and do the
calendar everyday to learn the months and day of the
week.
I still LOVE to play trains but a quick second to that are my
matchbox and HotWheels cars! I love to crash them. I am
really starting to love to color and draw too. I am getting
pretty good at making circles! I usually am drawing trains,
rocket ships and happy faces. I still enjoy playing in my
sandbox and riding my "noisy" car outside. It
doesn't go very fast anymore and I am getting way to big for it, but
that doesn't stop me! I enjoy Geocaching with Mom and Dad and
I am getting good at actually finding the hidden treasures! I
also love to go to McDonald's when I can talk my parents into it and
going to playgrounds. I still love to watch TV (probably too
much), my favorite show would have to be SpongeBob! I also
love Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron. Daddy and me still
enjoy watching the Simpsons together. I also love to watch
movies too. We are going to go see a bunch of movies in the theater
this month! I can't wait! We are gong to see The
Incredible's, SpongeBob the Movie and The Polar Express! I
will have to give you all updates and my critiques on the films!
Well...I have rambled on about myself long enough. Gotta go
play trains!

Pixar's
"The Incredible's"
November
8, 2004 |
'The
Incredibles' follows the adventures of a family of former
superheroes rediscovering the true source of their powers - in one
another. Once one of the world's top masked crime-fighters, Bob Parr
(AKA Mr. Incredible) fought evil and saved lives on a daily basis.
But fifteen years later, he and his wife Helen (a famous former
superhero in her own right) have been forced to take on civilian
identities and retreat to the suburbs. Today they live as mere
mortals and lead all-too-ordinary lives with their children... who
go out of their way to appear "normal." As a
clock-punching insurance man, the only thing Bob fights these days
is boredom and a bulging waistline. Itching for action, the
sidelined superhero gets his chance when a mysterious communication
summons him to a remote island for a top-secret assignment. Now,
with the fate of the world hanging in the balance, the family must
come together and once again find the fantastic in their family
life.
Mommy, Daddy and I went this afternoon to see this movie since Mommy
didn't have to work. We had a big bag of popcorn and some
soda. This movie was funny, scary and great! When it was
over...you could hear me say (very loud and clear) "THIS MOVIE
WAS AWESOME!" We rate this movie an "A" and
suggest that you all go see it! Along with that, people
could hear the many times I told Mommy, "I love you soo
much!" Overall, I am very well-behaved and quiet at the theater!
Next movie
to see: The Polar Express!! I can hardly wait!

Geocaching
in a Ghost Town
November
16, 2004 |
|
Daddy went on a
great trip with Uncle Mark to Ft. Indiantown Gap to go Geocaching in
an old Ghost Town. It was about a 2.5 mile hike into the
woods, but once they got there, they found an old railroad bridge
across a beautiful stream. There were lots of old foundations
and even a cemetery, even though there were only 3 gravestones
left. They also found a couple of water wells scattered
around. The name of the town is Rausch Gap and was a coal
mining town where more than 1000 people lived and worked.
Unfortunately there isn't much history of the town to be found, and
there isn't much left now...pretty soon all that will remain is a
marker and some stone foundations.

Pre-Thanksgiving
Party!
November
20, 2004 |
We decided
since Uncle Mark was in town and everyone was available that we
should have a get together. It had been since my birthday that
we had done that, which was far too long! The Lemmons Family
even made the trip up! I was so excited to get to play with
Sam! Plus, another bonus was that Aunt Atina, Uncle Will and
Nickoli were traveling through that day and staying with us.
So, I had lots of friends to play with and my playroom got a good
workout! The Hartley's came, Amanda, Uncle Mark and The
Fisher's. We were all excited to meet Maysen. She was so
quiet the whole night and I got to feed her a bottle. That was
fun for about 2 seconds. We (Sam & I) stayed up real
late...after midnight! It was soo much fun! The
grown-ups had a good time too. They made English muffin pizzas
and ate lots of good food and played games. I think the boys
beat the ladies again but it wasn't a complete sweep like last
time.
We hope everyone has a good holiday and I guess we will be seeing
everyone in a few weeks, when we travel to Virginia to celebrate
Sarah's first birthday! Mmmm...cake! :)

Thanksgiving
at Grandma's and Pa-Pa's
November
24 - December 1, 2004 |
|
I love going to
visit Grandma and Pa-Pa. They have a tractor and a huge
yard! Aunt Atina, Uncle Will and my cousin Nickoli were all
there too, and I had a blast playing with everyone. We had our
Thanksgiving dinner which everyone said was scrumptious, but I'm
such a picky eater that I didn't really eat much. Mommy,
Daddy, Grandma and Aunt Atina also went geocaching in Erie and did a
fun murder-mystery cache there.
Nickoli and
I got to play out in the snow and we had fun, but it was cold so we
didn't stay out long. Unfortunately everyone got the stomach
flu and it made it's rounds so everyone was sick for about 24 hours.
Daddy and
Pa-Pa also went hunting, but that's another entry.

Hunting
for Deer
November
29 - December 1 |
|
Daddy and Pa-Pa
went hunting for deer. They didn't have much luck. Pa-Pa
got a 4 point, but unfortunately it needs to be 4 points on each
side and his was only 2, so the Game Commission took it away.
Daddy also shot a deer and him and Pa-Pa tracked it for about 1/2
mile before losing the trail. The deer wasn't hurt too bad, so
I am sure it's ok. A couple days later daddy hit another deer
and also lost the trail. Daddy said that's never happened to
him before and it happened twice this season. He was pretty
upset with himself and doesn't like to leave injured deer out in the
woods, but I told him there's always next year. Maybe Pa-Pa
will get one later this season.
