February 2005 Journal

Will there be 6 more weeks of Winter or is Spring around the corner?

No big plans this month...we've been kind of taking it easy until Daddy finds a job.

Happy Valentines Day this month to all my family and friends!  xoxo

FunCare Floods!  Ahhh!
February 1, 2005
Mommy didn't have to go to work yesterday because pipes had busted in the daycare and flooded the lobby and the 4 & 5 year old rooms!!  This had happened last year but it only closed the daycare for one day...this time was much worse!  Mommy had to go into work today because they needed to move some of the rooms upstairs and into the vacant units up there.  Mommy's room ended up being closed to because the walls were wet and damaged.  It's crazy...the daycare is kind of separated into 3 different units now!  Mommy is combined with the other toddler teacher upstairs and with the new infant room.  They are working hard on getting things fixed, new everything, ceiling tiles, walls, carpeting....and they are FINALLY going to fix the pipes so this doesn't happen again.  Everyone has been working hard and have been putting in a lot of extra hours to make things run smoothly for the parents and their children.  We don't know how long renovations are going to take.
Ground Hog's Day!
February 2, 2005
That crazy groundhog saw his shadow AGAIN this year!  I don't know where he was seeing something like that because it wasn't very sunny here in Harrisburg!  Oh well...I LOVE the snow and I wouldn't mind actually getting some more.  Heck, we haven't even had enough to build a decent snowman with!  Daddy, of course, is ready for Spring!
Daddy Got A Job!
February 4, 2005
Yea!  Daddy got a job!  His first day will be Feb. 14th.  He is working with a consulting company (e&e consulting) for ComputerAid and doing a project with the County Commissioners office.  He is a Technical Specialist and will oversee the development of the project.  It is only a part-time job for now but may develop into a full-time position by March.  We are hoping for that but right now...this is good.  It is only a one-year contract but maybe by then something else will open up.  We will just be taking things, one day at a time.
CONGRATS DADDY!  I will miss staying home with you!
Geocaching Trip!
February 5, 2005
The weather was pretty mild today and sunny, so we got in some early morning geocaching.  We did a tough one for me and I did a great job, considering the terrain.  We hiked up in through the game lands in the SNOW!!  Uphill most the way and I almost made it the whole way without Daddy having to carry me!  We finally got to the top of the mountain and it took us a while to find the treasure.  It was in pretty sad shape, most of the stuff was frozen!!  We are starting to get annoyed with people who don't use nice water-tight containers and don't keep their caches maintained...but all in all, we still have a great time with this hobby!  On the trek back downhill, I had fun stopping occasionally to make "butt-marks" in the snow!  That always gets me a laugh!  Hee-Hee!
Packages from Grandparents!
February 11, 2005
I got TWO packages in the mail today!! One from Grandparents Wiles and the other from Grandparents Proper!!  Grammy W.  made me a blue fleece bathrobe.  Boy, is it nice!  I look like a turtle master in that baby!  Best of all, wrapped up in that care package were 2 trains!  Douglas and Donald.  Grammy & Pap must have hit those sales at Boscov's...heehee.  THANK YOU!
My other packages from Grandma P.  had all kinds of interesting things in it.  I think she had a lot of fun putting it together.  She made me all kinds of fun little games that Mommy said will help me with my "fine motor" skills, whatever that means.  All I know is that it's fun to sort all the beads, picking them up with tweezers, stringing them on the pipe cleaners....mixing them all up and spilling them ALL OVER THE FLOOR!!!  Haahaa...Mommy is reading over my shoulder.  I also got some cool art stuff, the paint pens are my favorite.  She also sent me a bag of "M's" and some lollipops and cookies...yummy!  THANKS GRANDPARENTS PROPER!  Oh....and my favorite thing off all...that I played with all night was....the BOX in all came in!  It makes a great rocket ship or race car!  I like to sit in it on the couch with my pillow and blanket!  Go figure!
Happy Valentine's Day
February 14, 2005
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  I had a fun day and party at my "school".  We ate all kinds of good stuff and gave/got cards!  I got all kinds of candy....my favorite thing!  Mommy & me painted a picture for Daddy to take to his job.  I put hearts on it with beads and special puffy paint.  It looks pretty awesome!
I hope everyone had a nice special day....I LOVE YOU!!
**Let It Snow**
February 24, 2005
Yay!  We finally got another good snowfall!  Mommy and me were at FunCare when it started.  It sure did snow a lot!  Mommy got to leave work a little bit early and we were really careful driving home.  We passed a lot of accidents.  Mommy said it was people were being reckless and not as careful as they should be.  Anyway, we made it home safe and sound.  I couldn't wait to get out of the car and get my boots on!  I got to help Daddy shovel and run the snow blower.  I like to use my tractor and trucks in the snow too.  Finally, it started to get too cold out and dark too.  Plus, it was still snowing...lots!  We must have gotten around 4 inches and more than that in the yard where it drifted.  I can't wait to go out and play in it with Daddy tomorrow!  I bet he is just thrilled!
Finally!  Painting My Room!
February 26, 2005
We have finally begun decorating a room in our "new" house.  (Hard to believe that we have almost been here a year, and it's been a year since we found it!)  Anyway, my room gets to be FIRST!!!  We have made numerous trips to Lowe's and I helped to pick out some paint colors.  We are going to hold off on all the pics until the room is completely finished.  Right now, I have new lights that Daddy made me, walls are painted, crown molding and new window blinds.  There are some finishing touches still...like my new curtains and bedding (bet you can't guess the "theme"...choo-choo!).  I have also heard Mommy & Daddy talking about going to the store and buying me a new bed and dresser for my clothes!  YAY!  I'm excited to have a "huge bed with two pillows!"
