Happy May!
Hope to really start enjoying some warmer weather this month.
Having some visits from friends and celebrating Mother's Day with Mommy :)

One Year Anniversary Living in our New House!
May 1, 2005
Wow!  Can't believe we have been living here for a year already.  We are just glad that we were able to stay and got through Daddy's unemployed months with no major debt over our heads.  Whew!  Hope we don't need to worry about that again, anytime soon, but you never know with him working in the field (computer) that he does.  Anyway, it's been a slow process, but we are getting some things done around here to make it more like a "home".  My room is almost finished.  Just a few more touches to go.  I know Mommy wants to do the living room, kitchen, powder room and hallways done soon.  It seems to be really hard for them to pick out paint colors and finding the time.  We hate to give up our weekends for housework!
Geocaching Fun ~ Find #348 and 349
May 7, 2005
Well, we haven't been out caching in awhile, it seems.  The weather is finally cooperating.  Getting tired of the March like weather we have been having.  Anyway, we were off to Mt. Gretna (small wooded town, full of game lands, near our house) to find a newly hid cache, called Just For Kids.  How appropriate, I'm a kid!  Daddy said this cache would only take a short while to find, short hike, easy hide.  Or so he thought...I had other plans in mind.  Mommy said this trip was truly about the "journey" and that was geocaching is supposed to be all about.  It gets you out of the house and discovering new places and things.  Well, I did just that...I stopped to explore every log, stump, rock, plant, creek along the way.  It was fun.  I did complain some...I'm working on that but it was still a good time.  I found the cache hidden in a tree around some rocks and picked out something fun to play with.  After that it was time to go home and take a nap.  Daddy's orders, he was tired of my complaining.  Mommy thinks he had a hard time wondering what should have been a 1/2 hour find turned into 3 hours in the woods...heehee.  After my nap we went to Hershey to find one more.  This one was simple since it was in town...no woods for me to explore and I knew we were going for pizza afterwards!  Yay!
Happy Mother's Day!
May 8, 2005
Happy Mother's Day to Mommy, Grammy, and Grandma.  Also a happy day shout out to all of our friends that our Mommy's too!  I hope you all had very special days with your families.  We did some fun stuff that I will write about in a separate log.  I worked really hard on a special gift for Mommy at school.  I made her a card with sparkly glitter all over it.  It's a picture of a building.  Also, I planted her a seed in some dirt that will grow into a flower.  She thought they were awesome and gave me big kisses!  Oh, yea and I made her some brownies...my new favorite thing to make and eat!
Philadelphia Zoo
May 8, 2005
Today, for Mother's Day, Mommy decided she wanted to go to the zoo.  We have been living here for (3 1/2 for me and 7 1/2 for Mommy & Daddy) years and have never gone to Philly for anything!  We were kind of surprised that it only took us about an hour and a half to get there!  We arrived shortly after the zoo opened and Daddy had the smart idea of walking around the zoo "backwards", so we avoided any kinds of crowds.  I liked the big balloon they had there but you couldn't go up in it because the wind conditions were too bad.  I really enjoyed looking at the monkeys.  I could have watched them all day!  The big one stood there and pee'd all over the place!  That was pretty funny!  We rode the swan paddle boats and I got to "drive"!  In the petting zoo, I got to feed the ducks.  I like watching them all come for one little piece of food!  I didn't chase after the goats and sheep this time like I usually do.  Mommy & Daddy tried to talk me into getting my face painted but I didn't want to do that!  I said I just like my face brown like it is.
We stopped at the gift shop on the way home and I got a cool t-shirt and a zoo play set.  Mommy & Daddy got a magnet for our refrigerator like they always do when we go someplace new.
This zoo was nice but we really feel like we have been spoiled by the Brevard Zoo that we visited in Florida while visiting Uncle Mark last year.  We still had a really nice time though and are thinking of going back to Philly again to do something else.  Mommy said that they are supposed to have a really nice children's science center.

Another Geocaching Weekend!
May 14-15, 2005
Seems we are always writing about caching...but we ARE always caching when we get the nice weather.  This weekend, the rain missed us and it turned out that we had two really nice days.  Saturday, we headed over to the new Boyd's Big Tree Conservation.  There were several geocaches hidden in this beautiful area.  There are over a dozen hiking trails and all the ones we went on were perfect for me.  I think we found around 5 caches total there.  Some were really tricky.  I did get a new HotWheels car from one :).  I tried to pull the whiny "I'm tired, hungry, can't walk anymore" fits...but they didn't work, we kept on going.  Eventually, I found some cool stuff to keep me entertained (bark on a dead log, millipede, dandelion flowers and a big "hammer" stick).  We went for lunch at McDonald's and I actually ate some of my cheeseburger.  Then we went to City Island to search for a cache, but there was a game starting and we couldn't find it, so we left.  Where to go...Mommy and Daddy said that there was a cool puzzle cache multi that they wanted to do at a park, so we went there.  It was fun!  I played really hard on the equipment with other kids that were there.  Daddy and Mommy were taking turns going all over the place trying to be stealthy.  They were having some trouble and had to call Uncle Mark to look something up on the internet and then after about 2 hours, the rain chased us away.  We left, should've stayed, because it didn't rain for very long.  Came home and played outside for awhile, then it was time for bed.
Sunday, we got up early and off we went as soon as we saw that the forecast had changed.  Daddy realized a BIG goof that we made at City Island...so we went there and found it quickly and another one that was on the Island.  Then...off to that park again to finish the puzzle.  Mommy and Daddy figured it out and found the final cache.  It was funny watching Daddy trying to get it without being seen...there were muggles everywhere as a soccer game was beginning!  We did a few more caches in the area...came home and all took naps.  It was a fun weekend...with NO TV!!!!

Armed Forces Day
May 21, 2005
We decided to check out Armed Forces Day on City Island.  It was pretty cool.  We parked downtown and walked across the Walnut Street Bridge.  I didn't like walking on the grating part, so I stuck to the sidewalk.  On the way over, we heard...BANG, BANG, BANG!  It made me jump...Mommy and Daddy too!  They were firing off cannons.  I got to see all kinds of soldiers in their uniforms...Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and the Coast Guard.  I also got to see and go inside a Red Cross helicopter, Abrams Tank, M2 Fighting vehicle, CH-47 Chinook helicopter, and the recruiting HMMWV.  I was a little nervous inside the helicopter, I thought they were going to take off with us in it!
We walked down to the river and got some food for lunch and sat and watched things.  I told Mommy that "I could sit here all day and watch the boats on the water, people on the bridge and cars on the road."

A special THANKS to all who have and are defending our country.
 GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Trike-A-Thon for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
May 25, 2005
My daycare participated in a trike-a-thon today.  It helps raise money for St. Jude's Hospital, as well as teaching bike safety.  Mommy said that the money will go to help sick kids.  I didn't think kids got sick, but they do.  I was excited to participate.  I got all kinds of donations and told my friends all about it.  We didn't think that we were going to be able to have it because of the weather, but the rain stayed away!  I used one of Fun Care's trike's because I am still a little too small for my one that Santa brought.  Anyway, I had a little trouble getting started at first but I stuck with it.  Mommy came out and took some pictures and helped me get along too.  After awhile of watching my friends and NOT giving up...I had it rolling around the obstacle course pretty good.  I even remembered to stop at the stop signs and look both ways.
It was a fun day and I helped to raise $115 for all those sick kids.  I sure hope that helps.

My First SOLO Bike Ride
May 25, 2005
I really think it was because of spending the day on the trike's at school and watching all my friends whiz by me on their cool bikes, is the reason this moment took place.  I have been trying a little bit each day but never really got anywhere on it, well...not far past the garage.  I finally figured out how to make my legs work to get the wheels to turn.  Daddy picked me up early from daycare and we came home and got out my bike.  We started slow down the driveway and then I rode it up and down the sidewalk....all by myself!!!  I have a little bit of trouble going uphill but I am determined to have it mastered by the end of the summer.  I can't wait to ride my bike to the playground!

Memorial Day Weekend!
May 27-30, 2005
We FINALLY made it up to visit Grandma & Papa!  A special bonus of Aunt Atina and cousin Nickoli being there.  I (We) had the BEST time!  Nickoli and I played hard every day.  It was a lot of fun having someone to "run" cars with and dig in the dirt and to drive tractors with.  Nickoli has this really awesome John Deere Tractor that is just the right size for us to drive.  He did a great job of sharing and we really "tore" up the yard in that thing.  We wore out the batteries a few times.  Mommy & Daddy did a lot of geocaching.  They found all of Grandma's hides.  Well, all but one...they had to help her with that one.  We took the tractor up to find the one on their property.  I am not so afraid of Papa's big tractor now.  I had fun helping Papa build a campfire in the backyard.  Nickoli and I were very careful to stay back...but had a good time making hot dogs and s'mores!  Yummy!  It was also exciting for me to sleep there.  I am finally old enough for the top bunk!  I got to sleep up there all by myself and by the end of the weekend, I had the ladder mastered.  We went to a cool playground/park on Memorial Day, while Daddy and Grandma did a geocache.  Then we went to the fire hall to get some chicken!  Mmmm...I even ate a little tiny bit of that!  It came time for us to leave way too soon!  I did not want to go, as I was having so much fun!  Daddy said we would come back before the summer was over...just need to find the time.  I slept most of the drive home, which Mommy said was a good thing as traffic was horrible.  We didn't get home till really late...but then I wasn't tired!
