September 2005 Journal

Mommy is excited for the cooler fall-like temperatures this month.  Fall is her favorite
time of year!

We are trying to get the garage done this month and Daddy is doing some geocaching with friends.  He also officially started working for CCAP as a full-time employee.  He is going to be really busy for the next few months!

Who knows what we will do this month.  Have some visits from both Grandparents planned too!

Labor Day Weekend
September 4, 2005
We didn't do too much this weekend.  We did some painting and cleaning in the garage.  Daddy and Pa-Pa are going to insulate and drywall the open walls.  Then we are going to paint, protect the floor, organize and get garage door openers.

Anyway, today we went to Ms. Yolanda's house.  They have a boat and live by the Susquehanna River.  We spent most of the day on it and "swimming" in the river.  I, of course, wasn't a big fan at first.  The river isn't very deep at all...heck on most days, you could probably walk across it!  Anyway, I had a better time once I was on the raft.  Yolanda, Mommy, Daddy, R.T. and me were playing catch and....SPLASH!  I fell right off the raft and into the water!  Mommy said I sunk like a rock!  I did remember to hold my breath and I actually didn't panic too much.  Mommy was right there to pull me out.  I  wasn't very happy after that and wanted to "get back on the boat" (I was saying that a lot) but I recovered and we continued with our game.   Later, we cooked out and had a picnic.  Ericka and me ate some yummy hot dogs and everyone else enjoyed some burgers.  We went back up to the house for a bit and to have ice cream for dessert.  Later, when it was dark, we went back out to the boat to watch the fireworks!  They were awesome and loud!  It was a nice day.

Happy 8 Years Mom & Dad!
September 6, 2005
Mommy & Daddy have been married for 8 years today.  Daddy was out of town all day so they didn't do anything special.  Daddy got Mommy some flowers and "kisses".  Mommy got Daddy the Season 5 DVD set of The Simpsons'.  I can't wait to watch those!  Woo-Hoo!

Anyway....Happy Day Mom & Dad.  I LOVE YOU!

Daddy's Geocaching Trip to Maryland
September 10, 2005
Daddy went caching with some friends down in Maryland.  It was quite the adventure, so I'll let him tell it.

I went with Luxuryoils, DocDitto, and Dziner down to Maryland to grab a Project APE cache.....that means a cache that was placed to promote the "new" Planet of the Apes movie in 2000.  There are only 3 of them left in the country.  We did several others while in the area.  At one, we found a baby copperhead under the cache, so we took some photos and sent him on his merry way.  Another cache had us crawling through a small tunnel under some railroad tracks, and yet another led us to a cave that was about 60 feet deep and 25 feet wide.  It was a great time.  However on the way back, I decided to walk over to look over a cliff....when Doc yelled from behind me.  I turned around and there was a 2 foot copperhead snake where I had just stepped.  I don't know how I missed stepping on it....but I found myself with my back to a 60 foot drop, facing a rather disturbed copperhead.  Thankfully he wanted nothing to do with me and went on his way, while I had to catch my breath a little bit.  Whew!

We finished up the day by doing a night cache down near Baltimore that involved following some glow-in-the-dark signals through the woods.  It was a great time...

A Day of Caching for Us
September 11, 2005
Although, today is a four year anniversary of a very sad day...we made sure to spend it as a family doing fun things.  We decided to do some geocaching.  There were some new caches placed really close to our house in some really neat little out of the way places.  We found one at an old "newly-restored" train station in Annville.  We were lucky because while we were there....a train went past.  We found one at a park/playground that we never knew about.  I liked it because it had some really old and different play equipment on it.  There was even an old abandoned mini-golf course there!  That was kind of neat.  We stopped for a refreshing treat at Dairy Queen and decided to eat outside.  To our surprise it was next to a creek and it was "alive" with ducks....of all shapes, colors and sizes.  I LOVE DUCKS!!  So, we spent a long time there feeding them.  I like to watch them dive under for the food.  We continued our geocaching journey into Lebanon and stopped and did a few more near a playground and two in Stoever's Dam Lake Park.   I was a big dirty mess by the time we were done!  We got home late and Mommy was giving me my bath and noticed I had "the pink eye".  Guess I don't have to go to school in the morning!  Daddy will be taking me to the doctors.

"The Pink Eye"
September 12, 2005
As I like to call it.  Of course, wasn't at all geocaching or me getting filthy dirty related at all.  Mommy was suspicious of my eye that morning, but we had slept with the windows open in the house and she thought maybe it was my allergies.  So, I spent the day home with Daddy while he worked and then took me to the doctors.  I have to take medicine AND eye drops.  Mommy isn't sure why they gave me both but I will be better to go back to school for tomorrow!

I HAVE to be there....I am RAINBOW OF THE WEEK!!

Rainbow of the Week
September 12-16, 2005
At school, Miss Carol lets one of us be "Rainbow of the Week".  (My class is called the Rainbows, incase you didn't know that already.)  Anyway, this was my week!  My class traced my body on a big sheet of paper and helped to decorate it all up.  They drew things for me like suns, spiders, cars, houses, etc.  I got to draw my face all by myself and ....oops....I accidentally drew myself with 2 noses...heehee.  I got to be the special helper all week long.  I was in charge of handing out jobs and anything extra Miss Carol could think of.  This weeks lessons were all about Feelings.  I drew a picture of "what makes me happy" and it was when "Mommy & Daddy take me to Chocolate World".  (hint-hint, we haven't been there in awhile).  Friday was a busy day, we had a Mexican Fiesta.  Miss Carol talked about Mexico, brought in all these different hats, made us a piņata AND we made tacos for lunch!  I ate half of mine, the whole time saying "I don't like this".  (hmmm?)  I also had Jumpin' Jitney that day and then the afternoon was all about me again.  I helped Mommy to make brownies for my special snack and then I brought in my HotWheels Movies - The Wheel of Power.  The funny thing about that was, I only have DVD's, so Daddy dragged in our extra TV and player and set it up in the lobby.  It was like a movie theater in there!  Ms. Judy laughed and asked Mommy if she brought the surround sound!

It was a GREAT week.  Oh yea, "pink eye" is gone!  :)

Grandma & Pa-Pa Visit
September 16-19, 2005
I love when the grandparents come!  I know they come just to see me, even though they said they came to help Daddy in the garage.  Grandma, Pa-Pa and Daddy all worked hard all weekend.  They got the 3 unfinished walls in the garage wired, insulated and dry walled.  It was a lot of hard and messy work.  I was allowed to help a little bit, but mostly needed to stay out of the way.  Grandma and me had a lot of fun playing.  We even had a picnic in my playset.  We went for a walk and to the playground too.  Pa Pa and me did some coloring and we all had fun playing some of my games.  We all went out to dinner too at Red Robin.  Everyone had fancy drinks and we all ate too much food.  It was fun and loud there!  Can't believe we didn't do any geocaching but we were just too busy.

I hope they come back soon to visit.  Hopefully, Daddy has the garage done by then.  If he would just let me help, it would get done faster.  I have already added some new screws to the walls to help hold it up!  Funny, it was okay for Daddy to do that but not me...hmmm?

Grammy & Pap-Pap Visit
September 23-28, 2005
Again, I love when my grandparents visit because all the attention is on me!  It's been awhile since I have seen anyone too.  Daddy had to go on a business trip and Mommy was to have a meeting for work, so it was nice to have someone else here.  We played a lot of trains too!  I spent all day Saturday with them so Mommy & Daddy could go geocaching all by themselves for a change.
I still went to school but Grammy & Pap would pick me up after lunch.  I didn't have to take a nap and that was great.
Mommy and Grammy did some shopping for me.  I am getting too big that my clothes from last Fall are getting too small.  Pap-Pap and me did some cool drawings of trains.  I hope they can come back and visit again soon.

Apple Week and Letter "A" Day
September 26-27, 2005
It is Apple Week and Letter "A" day at school.  I had Mommy get me a "very green" apple to take in for school.  Everyone was to bring in an apple.  We did "apple tasting" and I liked the sour ones the best.
Tuesday was "A" day.  I took in acorns, but I kept calling them "coconuts".  Finally, my teacher got me to say "acorns"...but when my friend, whose turn was next, brought "acorns", I was asked what they were....I very confidently replied, "coconuts!".  :)
