Senses
Week! ~ Tasting
November
1, 2005 |
We are learning
about our senses. Today was "bring something to
taste" day. Mommy & me went to the store before
school and I picked something out. Mommy wanted me to get some
weird kind of fruit thing called a pomegranate, but I knew what I
wanted. We headed right to the freezer and I picked...COFFEE
ICE CREAM!
Miss Carol didn't think my friends would like it, but almost
everyone did! We tasted all kinds of things all day. We
had apples, cookies, cinnamon syrup stuff and grape
applesauce. Yum!

Letter
S Day
November
2, 2005 |
Letter S
Day. Mommy and I talked about all the things that start with
the Letter "S". We had a lot of choices. There
was my space shuttle, snake, soup, spaghetti, socks, shoes,
Spiderman, etc. I thought of one all by myself...STRAWS!
Mommy helped me to count 10 out for my friends and we used them for
our juice at snack. Other friends brought things like:
Scooby-Doo pillows (3 people brought that!), snakes, and
seashells! We all got a seashell to bring home!
Ssss...ee you later!

Senses
Week! ~ Hearing
November
4, 2005 |
Today was
"hearing" day. We were to bring in something that
made a neat sound. I picked my Thomas "Fog"
Car. It has a cool fog horn sound effect. I about drove
Daddy nuts with it in the car on the way to school!
Anyway, we played a fun game of "Sound Bingo" and everyone
shared their things. We listened to squeaky toys, pianos,
drums, whistles and animal sounds.

FINALLY!
November
4, 2005 |
Well, as some of
you may already know. I have been having issues with
"pooping". I just don't try and go anymore. I
don't know why. Well, that is what I tell Mommy &
Daddy. They have tried everything from punishment to praise
with me and so far nothing really is working. Now, I have
NEVER gone "poopy" at school. Today, I finally
did! Mommy must have been telling everyone about my dilemma because
I think the whole daycare shook with cheers when I bounded into
Mommy's room and told her the good news. Mommy is hoping that
maybe this will get me over a hurdle of constantly trying to hold it
in. Mommy did put some of my favorite toys away and made me a
new sticker chart. Once I get so many stickers...I can get the
toy back. However, if I purposely have an accident, I lose a
sticker and have the risk of the toy getting put back. I've
heard Mommy and Daddy talking. I guess they have done some
research on the "internet". Seems this is a normal
behavior. Punishment usually never works. The
"experts" (whomever they are) say that it usually occurs
when the child, commonly a 4-year old (huh, funny, I'm 4), is
learning something new. Mommy doesn't know if me just entering
preschool, and actually learning new things, like writing my name,
alphabet, numbers, etc...could have triggered this? Who
knows? I am pretty stubborn too, and when I am focused on
something else, there is no getting my attention. Like Father,
Like Son is what Mommy says. Again, the experts say that it's
like learning a new puzzle, potty training was a puzzle, I learned
that, it's over....now, I'm on to a "new puzzle" and I
need to figure it out right now, so who cares about the last one I
learned.
Hopefully, this "phase" passes soon...well, for Mommy and
Daddy's sake. As you can tell, I am not all that bothered by
it. Heehee!

Grammy's
Surgery
November
7, 2005 |
My Grammy had
surgery today to remove a malignant calcium deposit and 3 lymph
nodes from her left breast. The deposit was found during her
annual mammogram and it seems that we caught it in time. The
lymph nodes and surrounding tissue that were removed all came back
clear of cancer. YAY!
She will have another appointment on the 14th to have the stitches
removed and to see if and what the next step will be. We are
hoping that she will not need chemotherapy, but we will do what it
takes to fight it!
I really don't understand any of this but all I care is that Grammy
is okay and things went well. I made her a card to help her
feel better.
I love you
Grammy!

"I" Day
November
8, 2005 |
Today I had to
bring something that started with "I". Mommy and me
named a couple different things, even Grammy sent some ideas.
I decided to take my big Insect Guide Book. It has some really
cool pictures of "insects" in it. I showed it to all
my friends.
Others brought: ice cream cups, ice cream sandwiches, ice skates,
ice cream scoops and the Icky Bug Alphabet Book.
We cut out the letter "I" and colored it like an Indian!

Disney's
The Incredible's On Ice
November
10, 2005 |
Mommy, Daddy and
me went to the Giant Center in Hershey to see The Incredible's on
Ice. I was excited to go and the first thing I made sure we
did was buy some cotton candy! It came with a cool
"Dash" mask! Daddy said it should have come with an
entire costume for the price! heehee. Anyway, I also got
this cool laser wristband...for FREE!
The show was great, there was singing, dancing, twirling, flashing
lights, smoke, and even fireworks at the end! The plot was
that the Parr family (aka. The Incredible's) wanted to go on a
"normal" family vacation to Disney. Mr. Incredible
kept wrecking the rides, because he didn't realize that the special
effects were just that. I'll tell you about ONE of my favorite
parts. He broke the Runaway Train ride because he
"thought" his family was going to crash into a mine cart
full of dynamite! He jumped out, pulled the train to a
stop and then ran and jumped on the cart, it exploded!
Everyone laughed and laughed...then some guy announced over the loud
speaker that the Runaway Train ride was closed indefinitely because
"Someone didn't keep there hands and feet inside the car at ALL
times!"
There were so many good parts that I could go on and on. But
the gist of it was that the evil "Syndrome" captured
Minnie and Mickey Mouse and was turning the Magic Kingdom into a not
so magical place. The Incredibles, along with Fro-zone, had to
save the day. It was cool. I even got to help fight the
robots with my laser wristband and all of us kids in the audience
helped to put the magic back in the Magic Kingdom. All the
lasers in the crowd flashed (Mommy said it looked cool) and the
Disney parade of lights started and ended with fireworks! It
was great and I wanted to go again!
Thanks Mom
and Dad for a great night!

Hershey's
Chocolate World ~ Trip # 101..heehee
November
13, 2005 |
Since I started
this new "pooping" in the potty sticker chart and I have
been doing great so far, Mommy had a special space on there that
said....a trip to Chocolate World! We went today and you would
think by the way I act and get excited, that it was my first
time! We rode the tour ride and I actually participated
"fully" in the Factory Works part. I got a Hershey
Bar and some kisses to bring home. Mommy & Daddy bought
some Christmas presents for people too. They have started to
decorated for Christmas there, so I also got to see the big tree in
the lobby. It's HUGE!
I LOVE Chocolate World! When can we go back?!

There
Goes My Allowance!
November
14, 2005 |
OOPS! I
was playing in my sandbox yesterday and I love to use water in
it. I know how to turn on the hose to fill up my
buckets....but apparently, I forgot to turn it off. Mommy woke
to "I wonder why the sump pump is running?" I also
left it laying right up against the foundation of the house.
Mommy said that the ground is soaked. She wasn't too mad, just
reminded me to turn it off or to ask for help!
Sorry!

"M" Day
November
15, 2005 |
Today was letter
"M" day and we almost forgot to grab something.
Mommy quickly remembered as we were trying to rush out of the
door. "I know! My Monster truck!"
Great! Let's go!
Other friends brought things like, M&M's, a movie, microphone
and a mouse.

Harrisburg's
Holiday Parade
November
19, 2005 |
We went downtown
to the "city" today, Mommy said that there was going to be
a parade. Daddy ended up dropping us off to find a spot to
stand, so he could go find a parking space. Good thing he did
and he found us just as time, as our row ended up being about 5 rows
thick! We were lucky enough to have a really good spot and
seats to sit on. There were marching bands, old cars, fire trucks,
big, HUGE balloons and Santa Clause made an appearance too! I
had a good time and Mommy said I was pretty well behaved, it was a
bit long. If we go again, we are going to try and get there a
little bit earlier and sit maybe up a little farther. We were
right at the beginning and missed some of the performances...but it
was still fun! I got candy too! Lots of candy canes and
a Snickers bar!

Get Together
November
19, 2005 |
We had a little
get together at our house tonight with the Hartley's and the
Fisher's. We are trying to not let so much time pass us by
until we see each other again. It was fun and I did a pretty
good job playing with Maysen. Well, I did try to give her a
hug and she fell over and bumped her head...sorry. I made sure
that she wasn't playing with things that were "for big boys
only!". Everyone kept laughing and saying something about
how I would be with a sibling....whatever that means. We ate
some yummy food, as we always do and Melonie brought in a chocolate
fondue pot and I LOVED dipping marshmallows in it! YUM!
I had to go to bed before everyone left and I am sure everyone had a
nice time. I think we will be planning a Christmas party next
month! I sure did miss my buddy Sam this time, but they are in
the process of moving to a new house in West Virginia and going on a
Disney vacation too!

"P" Day
November
22, 2005 |
|
"Puh....Puh",
that's the sound the letter "P" makes! Today I need
to come up with a good idea for the letter "P".
Mommy, Daddy and me thought and thought. Mommy kept naming a
bunch of things and my favorite one was...PAPER! Then, I asked
Daddy to make me a plane. HEY! Plane starts with
"P"! So, Daddy helped me to make 10 Paper
Planes for my friends at school!
Everyone
thought they were great. Others brought things like: pickles,
pencils, popcorn and paints.
We cut out the letter "P" for our craft and decorated it
like a Pilgrim!

Our
"P" Lunch
November
23, 2005 |
Today we had a
special lunch day, instead of the regular Discovery Lane food, we
were supposed to pack our lunch. The catch was, it could only
have foods that started with the letter "P". Mommy
& me had fun with this. We made a Peanut Butter
sandwich, cut like the letter "P", peaches, Pringles,
pudding and Punch to drink! I even decorated my
bag with "p" things. I painted purple
"P's" all over it and put on stickers of, Percy, Pluto,
paints, pumpkins and a pig! It was a fun
lunch!

"Over
the river and through the woods to Grandma's house we
go..." THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY!
November
23-30th, 2005 |
Mommy got to
leave work early on Wednesday so we could pick up Daddy and get a
head start on the holiday traffic and ahead of the pending snow...to
go to Grandma's and Pa-Pa's! I could NOT wait! I was
ready to leave this morning but had to wait until 1 o'clock.
We made great time, hit no traffic or construction (Daddy said that
was amazing!) and beat the snow...just in time! It started to
snow shortly after we arrived. Grandma had a yummy spaghetti
dinner waiting for us when we got there and my Pa-Pa makes the best
meatballs. I ate one without a fuss! Mommy is going to
have to get his recipe. Anyway, I had fun visiting and playing
with Grandma's toys all night. The cool part was that I got my
own room this time! It was Aunt Atina's growing up, it's
pink...but I didn't notice.
Thanksgiving day we woke up to a lot of snow! Probably
about 8 inches or more and it was still coming down hard! I
was beside myself with excitement. I could not wait to get my
snow suit on and get out there. Daddy and Pa-Pa got the
tractor ready to plow the driveway, while Mommy got me ready.
It was cold and windy but I hardly noticed. I helped steer the
tractor while Daddy lowered and raised the plow. I can't wait
until I learn to drive this thing by myself! I got out all of
Pa-Pa' s trucks and had a good ole' time. The best part was
climbing the pile of snow that Daddy had made and jumping off into
the snow below.
The grown-ups had a nice dinner. I, of course, didn't eat much
of it. I tried some corn and cranberry stuff. I did
enjoy the crescent rolls, since I did help to make those.
However, I was more concerned about when we would be getting out in
that snow again.
We really spent the remainder of the visit just relaxing, playing in
the snow, playing Lego's ( boy, Daddy sure did have a big collection
of those!), building a fire in the fire place and making
S'mores! I helped Grandma to feed her birds every day and fix
the "brush pile" that she made for them. The neighborhood
cat was hanging out it there! We shooed him away! I
liked watching the birds come and eat in the feeders. We
watched a lot of movies too! Polar Express, Popeye, Superman,
Santa Claus and more. Grandma made a cake to celebrate Mommy
& Daddy's birthdays too. Mommy and me made ornaments and a
special gift for Aunt Susan and Uncle Allen. I was a busy guy
every day and the visit was nice.
Daddy and Pa-Pa spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday hunting.
No luck though. Daddy shot at a buck, but didn't knock him
down and Pa-Pa only got "fur" on a doe he shot at.
Too bad. I think Daddy was kind of bummed. There is talk
of him coming back up for the weekend to hunt.
Anyway, I hope that everyone had as nice of a Thanksgiving holiday
as I had!
