December 2005 Journal

December means great things!  Snow, Christmas and TOYS!  I can't wait!

We will be busy.  I want to see snow, lots of lights, Santa, trains and go to parties!

Grandma & Pa-Pa's House!
December 1-3, 2005
Well, there was talk of Daddy coming back up to hunt with Pa-Pa...so I got to stay at Grandma's all by myself!  It was GREAT!  I had told Mommy that I didn't want to leave because "I love this house!".  Daddy said he would be back for me in 2 days...I told him 3 days!  hee-hee!

Daddy drove back up on the 2nd and boy, did we have a lot of snow!  About 12 inches and counting!  I was excited but it was too deep and cold for me to go out...bummer.  I sure would have like to have tried it though.  Grown-ups act kind of different when this beautiful white stuff comes floating down.  Oh well.  Anyway, Pa-Pa and Daddy tried the hunting thing again on Saturday but it was just too snowy, deep and cold.  The deer were staying put wherever they were.

Daddy and me decided to head home early and we got back around 6 o'clock.  I was soo excited to see Mommy.  I went running and about knocked her over!  It took me a bit to calm myself down.  While sitting with Mommy, I told her I was excited to be home.

I love Grandma & Pa-Pa's house though and can't wait to go back...by MYSELF!  The thing is will "they" be ready for ME?!?!?

Happy Birthday Mommy & Daddy!
December 1, 2005  AND December 3, 2005
Mommy and Daddy have birthday's so close together....isn't that funny.  We had celebrated at Grandma's with a yummy banana cake.  Grandma laughed because it was kind of tilted but it's all about how it tastes and it was good.
Daddy took Mommy out to eat for her special day and they are going to a Christmas concert sometime this month.  Daddy got to hunt a bit on his special day and we had a pizza dinner when we got home!  Mommy had gotten Daddy his new winter coat for his special day.

Pizza Delivery!
December 3, 2005
Mommy has been trying to make a point to remember and document "funny" things that I say or do.  Oh, great!

We ordered pizza for dinner and Cole always helps Daddy pay the delivery man when he arrives at the house.  So, the scene is all 3 of them at the door.

Pizza Man:  "Okay, thank you, have a great night!"

Cole:  "Hey, is that all you have?"

Pizza Man:  "Yup, that's it!"

Cole:  (running down hall, hands above head) "Woo-hoo!  We got the last pizza!"

Ah, the innocence of youth.  :)  This story still makes me smile.

**First Snow of the Season**
December 3, 2005
I woke up this morning yelling for Mommy.  "It's snowed!"  "It's Christmas!"  Well, I thought so anyway.  We did have a bunch of wrapped packages that weren't there before.  What else is a kid to think?  Mommy quickly tried to explain to me that Christmas was quite a few days away.  Bummer!  We looked though all the wrapped gifts anyway, and I tried to guess what they were.  I think one of mine is a "puzzle" and I think Daddy got a "brick".  It's square and heavy.  What else could it be.  All of these are ones from Grandma and Pa-Pa, they sent them down early so they have more room in the car for when they travel down.
Back to the snow.  We only got about an inch, but it was still fun to play in!  I told Daddy that we needed to "get to work clearing the road!".  He wasn't all that thrilled to go out, but eventually he did.  I loaded up my trucks and made a big pile of snow.  I was outside for quite awhile.  Now, we just need to get enough snow to pull out the sled!  Wheee!

Trimming the Tree
December 5, 2005
We put our tree up today.  It took a long time, my that thing is HUGE!  I helped a little bit but was more interested in watching Frosty the Snowman on TV.  I like to put the beads on but I don't think Mommy appreciates my visual of how they should be placed.  I enjoy the ornaments.  Daddy has a lot of cool Star Wars ones, they make sounds and light up.  I hung them all on the tree myself and put them all in one spot!
The house is decorated both inside and out and looks cool.  Not sure we can get a picture of the front porch or not...we'll see.

Back to "School"
Week of ~ December 5, 2005
I went back to "school" on Monday and boy did my friends miss me!  I told them all about the snow at my Grandma's house and how I "lived" there all by myself for a few days.  Mommy was glad I didn't tell them about Grandma shooting the birds from her window...ha-ha!
I was glad to see my friends too and since the temperature has been so low here...the snow didn't melt!  So, it has been a blast playing on the playground.  All of us kids have to put on our own snow suits and stuff and Ms. Carol has been impressed with how well we all do!  We have been getting faster and faster every day!  We started out at taking over 15 minutes to our last record of 7 minutes!  I'm getting so big!

Visiting with Santa
December 8, 2005
We went to the mall tonight so I could tell Santa what I want for Christmas.  I had been practicing all day what to say, "a batman computer, HotWheels track, and Dino Adventure".  I had no problem approaching the man, although I made sure Mommy and Daddy came with me.  Santa asked me all kinds of questions.  Am I a good boy?  Do I pick up my toys?  Do I eat all my food?  And when I am put to bed, do I go right to sleep?  I said YES to all of them....Daddy kind of coughed then...hope he was okay.  He even knew how old I was without me telling him!  Then came the big moment...."So, little boy, what do you want for Christmas?".  I FROZE!  Mommy, help!  Whew, she got me started and I told Santa my list.  We smiled nice for a picture and he gave me a lollipop and said, "see you Christmas Eve!"
I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

Our Annual Christmas Get Together
December 10, 2005
We always try to get together with friends at Christmas time.  This year the Hartley's hosted the evening.  We had a nice time.  Jen made homemade pizzas and stromboli!  It was yummy!  Of course, there was all kinds of other foods to be eaten too!
The grown-ups did a gift exchange.  Mommy got a massager and Daddy got a dart board!  I got some nice things too.  The Hartley's got me an outfit and a Playdoh playset.  Maysen got me a Batman action figure.  He is cool because he throws things.  I got Maysen a set of Little Mermaid Duplo blocks.  She loved them!
I played Ms. PacMan on TV while the grown-ups played games of TriBond and Taboo.  I think the boys won one game and the girls the other...so, the evening ended on a tie.  Everyone had a nice time and there is talk of a New Year's party at our house!
Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope your holiday is great.

Gingerbread House
December 12, 2005
Mommy bought me a gingerbread house kit and tonight we put it together.  I helped to pick out the pieces and Daddy "glued" it together.  Once we got the frame up, I couldn't wait to eat, I mean, help put the frosting and candies on!  I put a lot of them on myself but Daddy and Mommy helped too.  It looks pretty good.  Hope our picture gives it justice.  Now....when can we eat it?!

Candy Christmas Trees
December 15, 2005
I made a candy Christmas tree at school today.  We took sugar ice cream cones, turned them upside down and decorated them with frosting and candies.  It was a lot of fun and they turned out so nice.  I suggested right away that it needs to go in the yard of my gingerbread house!  I can't wait until I can eat it too!  Yum!

Santa Claus is Coming to....Palmyra!
December 16, 2005
I had gone to bed early but Mommy got me up long enough to see Santa drive down my street on a fire truck!  He was blasting Christmas music, blowing the siren and had the truck all lit up!  He even waved at me!  I guess he left his sleigh at the North Pole so the elves can finish getting it ready for the big night!

How many days till Christmas?

Mommy's Work Party
December 17, 2005
Tonight we went to a Christmas party at Ms. Yolanda's house.  A lot of the teachers from my school were there with their families.  It was a fun night.  They sure did eat a lot of food.  I especially enjoyed the "little smokies in sauce"...they were yummy!  Like Daddy says, what can be better than meat on a stick!  All the grown-ups did a lot of talking.  I was too busy playing with the other kids that were there.  Daddy and Mommy said that I was very well behaved.  It was a nice night.

Christmas with Aunt Susan & Uncle Allen
December 18, 2005
I went right to bed last night because Mommy said Aunt Susan & Uncle Allen were coming in the morning!  I was excited to see them.  It was nice being able to see them this time of year and to exchange gifts in person.  They brought in this HUGE box for Mommy & Daddy, but I was more excited about my packages!  I begged to open them and Mommy said it was okay.  I got a Batman outfit, which I didn't really appreciate until later, because it came with a "jacket" and that is all I want to wear now.  (Mommy says it's too cold outside).  Anyway, then came the best thing!  The 42inch Bat Cave playset!  AWESOME!  Daddy & Uncle Allen worked diligently on putting it together.  I kept showing them the box so they wouldn't mess it up.  I love it!  It's huge, it has a cool shooter thing, a trap door thing that catches bad guys in a net and a "zip-line" for Batman to "fly" on!  I have been playing hard with it every chance I get.
Aunt Susan & Uncle Allen got Mommy & Daddy a "deep freeze".  Daddy put it in the basement...Mommy isn't allowed down there because her present is hiding down there.  Anyway, they are pretty excited about it....it's loaded up with goodies too!  Uncle Allen got a deer during hunting season, so he shared some of his meat with us.  Daddy is thrilled.  THANKS GUYS!
I gave them their presents from me.  They really liked what we picked out.  Especially the home-made stepping stone for their garden/yard.  Mommy & me worked really hard on it.  I even put my handprint in it, with my name and date.
Later, we went to one of my favorite restaurants, Red Robin.  We all ate way too much food and I had a yummy milkshake!
We had a nice visit and I still want to go to their house and ride Uncle Allen's four-wheeler!  Where's my helmet?

Santa Visits Discovery Lane
December 19, 2005
Santa is everywhere these days.  I can't believe how he gets around so fast, but I guess that is what is so magical about him.  I visited with Santa at my school.  I told him all the same things I have been telling him for weeks now, a batman computer, Acceleracers and Dino Adventure.  He said he was working on it.  I also got a new book!  It's Alexander and the Terrible No Good Very Bad Day!  It's a pretty funny story!

Thanks Santa...see you in a few days!

Our ("Daddy's") New TV
December 19, 2005
Well, you could say that Daddy is floating on cloud nine!  He finally got a big screen TV.  Our friends, Darrin & Jen helped to bring it home last night.  The thing is HUGE,  but not too big for the living room...it looks nice.  It's a 50 inch plasma screen and all I know is that I have been told SEVERAL times...NOT TO TOUCH IT...EVER!  Some comments about a red bottom follow that...hmmm?  We watched some of "Finding Nemo" and it looked like we were right there in the ocean with the fish.  Daddy is still going on about some adjustments here, cables here, speakers this and speakers that....Mommy doesn't say much.

General consensus....we all LOVE it.  :P

Christmas Party at Discovery Lane
December 22, 2005
We had our Christmas party at daycare.  It was a lot of fun.  We played silly games.  My favorite was "Who Took Santa's Hat?".  Everyone had brought in a book for a gift exchange.  My friend, Isaac got my "I Spy" book and I got the book Patrick brought in, "Teddy Bear Dreams".   We ate a great lunch.  Miss Carol made a "meat tray" and we all got to make our own sandwiches!  I put everything on mine and ate it up!  Mommy couldn't believe it!  There were so many leftovers that we shared them with all the teachers in the building.
I also got some other gifts from friends.  I got a "goodie bag" from Brandon and a Superman Monster truck toy from Taylor!  Miss Carol got all us kids a Santa coloring book, fun pad and Color Wonder paints!  I had brought in ornaments that Mommy and me made, I picked a special one for each of my friends.  I got Miss Carol a gift of scrapbooking stuff and a gift card to Michaels.  She thought that was great!
Mommy's class had their party today too!  I heard a lot of laughing in that room.  Mommy got some nice things from all of her parents too!

It was a great day and a great way to kick off the holiday weekend!

Hershey's Sweet Lights ~ Our 3rd Year
December 23, 2005
All the grandparents arrived today!  Mommy was lucky this year and got today off of work, along with Monday!  Anyway, I have been asking and asking to go see the lights where Rudolf hides behind the trees and Santa is on the computer!  Mommy & Daddy keep saying they can't believe that I remember all of that from last year...but I do!  Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Pa-Pa and me all loaded up in the car and went to see them.  This was Pa-Pa's first time and I think he liked them as much as me!  I was sure to point out all the cool ones to him.  He thought the Rudolf's were funny and I think all the grown-ups forgot about the Santa computer one.  They all seemed to do a "oh, that is what he was talking about" sound.  I do know what I am talking about most of the time, ya know.  We wished Grandma could have come but all of the moving and blinking lights, plus the moving and jerking of the car would have drove her vertigo nuts!  I was ready to go too before it was over but I did a good job.  I'm not a big fan of waiting for things anymore.  heehee.

Mommy said she would have liked to have gone someplace else to see lights this year, but we just didn't have the time.  We will MAKE the time next year.

Merry Christmas 2005!
December 24-26, 2005
This was my 5th Christmas!  I really had a nice holiday!

December 24th:  Today, Uncle JG came...so all is right with the world!  I LOVE when he comes to visit!  We play and play and play!  This was a busy day.  Mommy got her hair done.  Grandma & Pa-Pa went to visit Uncle Allen and Aunt Susan.  I visited with Grammy and Pap-Pap.  We had a nice quiet day and a fun evening.  Grandma made lasagna for dinner with yummy garlic rolls.  The grown-ups had artichokes and shrimp cocktail too.  We watched the Grinch movie.  I like the "real" one...the one with Jim Carrey.  (I've only seen it about 4 times this month!).  I made my "special" cookie for Santa and made sure to add lots and lots of sprinkles to it!  I put out the magic reindeer food that we made in school along with some carrots in the "reindeer food" dish that Mommy made.  Daddy and I hung the key on the door for Santa and then poured the "big man" a nice cup of chocolate milk!  Another new fun thing we did this year was tracked Santa on the computer (noradsanta.org) to see where he was.  I watched him fly over Germany, Italy and even Canada!  When we saw him being escorted into North America by the F-16 I knew it was time for bed!

December 25th:  MERRY CHRISTMAS!  I got up early this year...well, Mommy got me up!  WOW!  Santa had come to my house and brought all kinds of gifts.  I could not wait to tear into them and see if I got the stuff I asked for!  Lucky me!  I did!  Santa got me the Dino Adventure I have been asking for since before Thanksgiving and what he couldn't find Uncle JG managed to!  I was soo excited to get the Batman computer AND Acceleracers stuff!  Uncle JG got me the "Drone Sweeper" and the Acceleracers Race track set!  Santa and my family sure did treat me good...I got all kinds of cool stuff.  A huge THANK YOU to everyone for being so nice to me!  I love all my gifts.  Let me tell you all about them (hope you have some time to read, this could take a while!).  Santa brought me...Dino Adventure, it's this cool Matchbox truck that you can take all apart and make different little trucks, it has a big dinosaur and a little one, and you go on...adventures!  heehee.  I also got Scamps the playful Pup.  I named him "Mr. Puppy" and you can tell him to do a bunch of things and he does it!  Like sit, speak, down.  I like to cuddle and play with him under the blankets.   Dr. Dreadful's Freaky Food Lab!  Mommy and me already mixed up one experiment, bubbling brains!  They were yummy and tasted like bubblegum!  I am dying to make the "Spicy Spider Farts!"  Grandma and Pa-Pa got me some more Lego's and some sets to put together.  I like the little cars because I like to build things like the books tell you to.  Mommy was quite impressed with me, since I can almost do it all by myself!  They also got me this great game called Captain Bone's Gold!  I love this game.  You have to get around the board with your gold coin before Captain Bone's (skeleton) come out of the treasure chest and steals it!  The first time he popped out, I almost wet myself!  Now, I think it's great!  I have played with this game a lot! I also got a "Make your own Volcano" kit!  I want to do this soo bad, but Mommy said that we should wait!  "HOW LONG?" Grammy & Pap-Pap got me my Thomas stuff I asked for.  I got the timber yard, power station and castle bridge.  They also got me some more track pieces (y, x and t ones).  A couple risers and some things that hold the track together.  I can really build quite the town now!  I still LOVE my Thomas track!  Santa knew what he was doing a few years ago when he gave me that!  My collection has just grown a bit...heehee!    Uncle JG got me the Batman computer.  He said that Santa called him and said he couldn't find that toy anywhere and he knows my Uncle knows where and how to shop for me!  Uncle JG found it, at the new Sears that opened right before Christmas!  It's great, you push on it to open it and wings come out the sides and Batman says, "Batman computer online, enter access code!"  I LOVE IT!  I can enter the codes all by myself and can play some of the games, some I will learn as I get older.  He also got me the above mentioned Acceleracers stuff.  The Drone Sweeper is the "bad guys" and it sucks up all the "good guy" cars.  My race track is cool too...the cars go up in a loop and spin and spin and then they shoot up a ramp and crash into the "ring of power!"  IT IS GREAT!  Daddy says it's a bit loud, but I don't care!  He also got me a toy leaf blower like the one my Daddy got and a Bob The Builder game for my V-Smile.  I can play it pretty well and still am challenged on some parts.  Speaking of video games, Santa got me and Daddy the Ms. PacMan game and a Simpson's Operation game.  It's funny, you have to take funny things out of Homer and if you touch the sides, he yells!  Mommy & Daddy got me the Buckaroo game.  It scares me a little bit because he jumps and you don't know when.  I got these cool smelly drawing markers.  I can really draw neat stuff with them.  A Rescue Heroes Underwater Adventure and a Thomas puzzle.
Whew!  I know I forgot to mention a lot of other things and I know I was a "tad" bit spoiled, but I appreciate it all very much.  I also got cool things in the mail from friends and family and money too!  Uncle Mark sent me these cool magnet building blocks.  Susie, Lauren and Larissa sent me a Caterpillar/Butterfly Garden (Mommy says we need to wait until Spring, I can't wait!).  Cousin Nickoli sent me 2 awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Sam & Sarah sent me a cool Rescue Hero jet.
I hope I didn't forget anyone!  But to all of you....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU!

December 26th:  I'm sure you can guess what I spent the day doing!  PLAYING!  Mommy thought it was funny that the 3 things I played with most consistently were the 3 things I asked Santa for.   Guess a 4-year does know what he wants for Christmas!  Grammy& Pap-Pap had to head home today so, we said good-bye to them in the morning.  Daddy, Grandma and Pa-Pa went shopping for some wood for Daddy's new saws and they fixed the molding on the window in the garage.  I helped Grandma pack up their things and we said good-bye to them in the afternoon.  Uncle JG had gone home last night, so now the house was eerily quiet.  I asked Daddy why everyone left?  "Don't they like our house?"
It didn't stay quiet for long....I had Acceleracers to race!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!  I hope yours was as holly & jolly as mine!

Grammy's Treatments Begin
December 27th, 2005
It was suggested to Grammy that she continue to attack her cancer.  Her tests had shown that all of the cancer had been removed.  However, she will be having daily radiation treatments as part of a preventative treatment for the disease.  Grammy will get "zapped" for a few minutes every afternoon.  I think she has to go for 30 some days.  The radiation only has some minor side affects, like a sunburn,  but nothing like chemo would.  We feel very lucky and thankful that today's medicine helped to catch and fight this terrible disease early!

McDonald's Ban Has Been Lifted!  YAY!
December 30th, 2005
It was a nice summer day when the NO MORE McDONALD'S rule was set upon me.  Daddy said not until after Christmas!  You see, I would, very often, not eat any of my food but a few fries and sips of shake.  "What a waste of money and food!"  Daddy took me back today, with a reminder of how long it would be until the next time, if I didn't eat anything!  I did pretty good, ate most of my fries and chicken nuggets and my shake.  Mmmm!

New Year's Eve Day
December 31st, 2005
We did not do much today but spend a relaxing time at home.  Daddy got the King Kong DVD Collection for Christmas and I have been asking and asking to watch it.  So, we did.  I really liked it, although I didn't really understand why they wanted to hurt King Kong.  Daddy kept telling me that "he was misunderstood".   I thought all the dinosaurs and stuff were cool.  Mommy thinks that I would probably enjoy the Godzilla movies too.  She also made some kind of comment of how I am more like my Daddy every day.  Heehee.  I don't think that is such a bad thing, and she doesn't either.  To prove that point even more, we spent a good part of the day playing my new V-Smile game, Ms. PacMan and Pole Position video games.  We also built my volcano that Grandma and Pa got me for Christmas.  Mommy and me put the plaster around it and we will have to wait until tomorrow for it to dry so I can paint and then make it "explode!".  Another thing....I spent the better part of last night and today building a "house" with an empty box that Daddy's new receiver for the TV came in.  I have been working really hard on taping it all up, building a chimney from packing materials and decorating the inside.  Daddy took some pictures so hopefully he will get them up soon.  Probably put them in the January gallery.  It was hard to capture all the details but it's pretty awesome.  Mommy says this is classic...so much for all those new toys Santa and family brought...heehee.

I stayed up pretty late but fell asleep on the couch around 10 o'clock, so I didn't get to ring in the new year.  Mommy & Daddy watched the big ball drop on the TV and listened to the fireworks that Hershey set off.  It was so foggy out, you couldn't see them...bummer.  We hope to do something more exciting next year!  However, there is a lot to say for nice, quiet, and quality family time spent together.

Happy 2006!
