Heat
Wave....we're having a heat wave! Wow, what an extreme
summer it has been! If it hasn't' been raining...and I
mean pouring rain, wind gusts and hail....it's too hot out!
Can you believe it's the last month of the summer
though...gee, where does the time go.
No big plans this month except a much anticipated visit from
my grandparents and Uncle Mark!

Cole and
School
August 1, 2006 |
Mommy & Daddy
have decided not to send me to Kindergarten this year.
Although, I am old enough and know my "stuff"...heehee. It
just makes sense, since we have the opportunity to do so, to hold me
back. This way I can begin the year as one of the older
students and will at least graduate being 18 years old. So...I
guess I have one more year to "play" and do this "maturing" thing
I've been hearing about. HA! I will miss some of my
friends at daycare, but will see them in the afternoon. I will
have a new teacher and will begin a whole new preschool class.
So, we will call my entries...Preschool TAKE 2!
I'm excited to begin playing soccer this Fall...Mommy and Daddy
signed me up! I can't wait for that. I have to go
shopping and buy me some new shoes called, "cleats".
Again, another cool reason for waiting to start school...I will
graduate in the year 2020 now!

Hands On House
Museum
August 5, 2006 |
Mommy, Daddy and
I took a trip to Lancaster to the
Hands On House Children's
Museum. What a fun place! It is just like a giant
playhouse with all kinds of neat things to do. I especially
enjoyed the construction site and the machine works sections of the
museum. We "played" together there for a few hours. I
keep asking Mommy and Daddy when can we go back?
After we left there we walked over to the
Landis Valley Living
Museum....it was right next door. They were having
something that Daddy called, Civil War re-enactments. I
thought the people were dressed in some really funny clothes.
The women's' dresses were the best....Mommy said she was really glad
that she didn't have to wear that stuff anymore. They must
have been really hot! We got to see the soldiers in their
uniforms too and capture a "deserter"...they were not very nice to
him! Then we watched them march in formation and fire their
guns. They sure did make a lot of smoke.
I was okay for a little while walking around there but it really was
not my cup of tea and my behavior was...well, horrible. Mommy
marched me right out of there with me yelling, crying and carrying
on...everyone was looking at me....it was so embarrassing! She
then told me that in 1863 parents were allowed to spank their kids
in public and with a switch! YIKES!

My new
shoes....cleats!
August 5, 2006 |
I had to buy new
shoes to be allowed to play soccer in the Fall. Daddy said
that I needed "cleats". We went to Dick's and they had all
kinds of them! I picked out the ones with the lightening bolt
on the side! I had fun trying them on in the store because
they have a "racetrack" painted on the floor so I could run around
and be sure that they fit me just right!
Grammy & Pap-Pap sent me some money for soccer so I used it to buy
my shoes, a couple pairs of socks, some soccer shorts and some
practice cones! Thanks!
Daddy and I went outside right away to break them in. Boy,
they make me run fast and I can kick the ball really hard too!
I can't wait for the season to start!

Mt. Gretna Lake &
Beach
August 6, 2006 |
Finally!
The weather was absolutely perfect today and we decided to pack up a
picnic and go to the "beach". Well...the lake in
Mt. Gretna and they have
a beach area...which was good enough for me! We had such a
nice time. We spent the entire day there and I spent almost
all of it...in the water! I could walk out pretty far before
it was too deep for me to touch. We took my tube to sit on but
I really just had fun splashing around in the water. Mommy
would pick me up and throw me and I would go under and come right
back up without any major problems. I do remember how to hold
my breath and pop right back up. I tried swimming a couple
times but it wasn't going all that well. Probably if we would
spend more time in water like this...it wouldn't take long for me to
"get it".

Chuckee
Cheese Field Trip #2
August 9, 2006 |
We went on
another field trip with my daycare to Chuckee Cheese. We had a
really fun time. I spent almost all of my tokens playing a
snow mobile game. It was fun! I ate lots of pizza and
just had a good time running all over the place. I really like
that place.

My
Grandparents Wiles Visit!
August 11th-16th, 2006 |
My Grammy &
Pap-Pap came to stay with us for awhile because Daddy had a work
conference to go to and Mommy and me didn't want to be alone for all
those days! After their 6 hour long drive (due to a bad
accident on the turnpike and a detour through major construction)
they were glad to get here!
We had a very nice relaxing visit. Mommy & Grammy went
shopping all weekend. I went with them on Sunday to the mall.
I can't really say that I enjoyed myself all that much but I did
alright. Grammy got me some nice new clothes and some Scooby
Doo books! Mommy picked out a book called a "chapter book".
It has lots of pages and no pictures. She told me that I have
to use my imagination and make the pictures in my head. We
have been reading a couple chapters a night and it's a good story
about a little boy and girl that find a tree house that is filled
with books. This story takes them back to the days of the
dinosaurs. I really am enjoying it. There are a whole
series of them, so I do believe Mommy will be adding them to my
Christmas list. Anyway, Mommy got some new clothes for herself
and for Daddy too. Mommy was excited to be buying a different
size...good thing she tried them on! I keep nagging her to
write an entry about her weight loss...maybe next month.
Anyway...other things we did this weekend was play in my pool.
I had fun showing Grammy and Pap-Pap how I go down my slide. I
spent all day Saturday in it! The weather was perfect, so it
was nice to be able to be outside. I put on my new soccer
cleats and kicked the ball around in my net for a long time too!
I got to stay home from daycare on Monday and Tuesday...we had a fun
time playing games, reading my books, watching movies and I got to
go to the grocery store and McDonald's!
The greatest thing I am proud of are my new "fast" shoes. I
had a pair already that I had ruined after my birthday party because
of my not pooping, trying to hold it in issue, that Mommy and Daddy
had about enough of! Mommy and Daddy said they weren't
cleaning them and into the trash they went! I was NOT happy
about that. Then and there I decided that I will no longer
"hold it" and will poop in the potty when I need to. I have
been doing such a great job that I earned a new pair. Luckily,
Grammy was able to find the exact same ones! Whew! I am
very careful with them now and was so excited to show them to my
friends when I went back to daycare! Mommy said if I revert
back to my old ways...they are getting boxed up and put away!
If I out grow my old shoes in the meantime, she will have to send me
to school in my socks and I honestly believe that she will do that!
Anyway, thanks for coming to stay with us. It was nice seeing
you again!
Thanks for everything.....WE LOVE YOU!

First Soccer
Practice
August 24th, 2006 |
I had my very
first soccer practice today! I was a little excited about
going but nervous too. It turned out to be great fun! I
met my 3 coaches, Mr. Steve, Mr. Matt and Mr. O and they sure do
know a lot of stuff about soccer. I met all the kids on my
team...boy, they are a bit bigger than me! But I did a great
job, didn't quit once or get upset. We had to stretch first
(Daddy says I need to work on my jumping jacks), take a run around
the field and then we split into 3 groups to practice a new skill.
I learned about "dribbling" the ball with my feet...that was kind of
tricky to do, but I took my time and did it "right". We
practiced stopping the ball with our feet too, there are two ways
you can do it, with the bottom of your foot or the side. Then
we "played" a practice game and that was a lot of fun...trying to
run after that ball is harder than it seems!
For a first day out I did pretty good and I did have FUN! (No
matter what I may tell you about it later!) We have quite a
few more practices to go before our first game!
Oh, I did have to buy these things called "shin guards"...boy, do
they itch my legs! Mommy is working on figuring that "bug"
out....we are all new at this soccer thing. I think we'll ask
Uncle JG as he used to play in high school!

Uncle
Mark Visits
August 25th
- 31st, 2006 |
"Uncle" Mark
game to visit us all the way from Florida! I was very excited
to see him. We had a fun time playing and just hanging out.
I got to stay home from school 2 days and we did some fun stuff.
One day we spent at Adventure Sports playing mini-golf, riding
go-karts and playing games in the arcade! Daddy and Mark had 2
fun days of geocaching adventures....one of which was in a cave!
They came home sweaty, tired and covered (and I mean covered) in
mud! Their stories were pretty funny though about their
adventures in the "cave". They both learned two new facts
about themselves...cave exploring is not their favorite thing and
yes, indeed they are both a bit claustrophobic. They came out
pretty banged up, but in the end really enjoyed their experiences.
I'm just glad no one got hurt (too badly). We also had a fun
night visiting with the Martinelli's. My buddy, Drew, came and
we played hard all night long!
It was nice spending time with Uncle Mark, since we didn't get to go
visit him this year in Florida, it had been a while since we saw
him. We are hoping to visit Florida in the Spring! Mommy
even mentioned the possibility of visiting Disney World this time!

Two More Soccer
Practices Under My Belt!
August 31st, 2006 |
Although I will
still tell you that I DO NOT like soccer.....I really enjoy myself
at the practices and am learning a lot!
I am getting better at dribbling the soccer ball around the cones.
I don't go as slowly anymore. We did some 2 on 2 game practice
and that was fun. We practice throwing the ball overhand once
it goes out of bounds. You aren't allowed to touch it with
your hands any other time.
We have one more practice before our first official game!
