February
2007 Journal
Hmm...shadow, no shadow? We did predictions in
"school". I guessed shadow! I want it to snow!
Valentine's Day is this month. Not too sure if I am a
big fan of this day or not. I don't like girls too
much at all. Yucky! Mommy said that it's okay
for now, but she's sure I will soon change my mind!

Happy
Ground Hogs Day!
February 2, 2007 |
We hung around
waiting to leave for work/school today so we could watch
Punxsutawney Phil predict the early arrival or delay of Spring.
So, here it is....Phil's official report brought to you from the
lovely pages of
GroundHog.org.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Phil Says Spring is Right Around the Corner!
El Nino has caused high winds, heavy snow,
ice
and freezing temperatures in the west.
Here in the East with much mild winter
weather we have been blessed.
Global warming has caused a great debate.
This mild winter makes it seem just great.
On this Groundhog Day we think of one
thing.
Will we have winter or will we have spring?
On Gobbler's Knob I see no shadow today.
I predict that early spring is on the way
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Oh man!
What does that mean? No more snow? Are we ever going to
get any! As of right now, this very morning...we have not had
ANY worth getting excited about! Mommy got me brand new boots
for this year and I have yet to wear them, except for around the
house! I got two really nice pairs of snow pants too...an
awesome scarf my Grandma made me and new snow gloves too!
PLUS...Mommy even bought snow pants so she could play outside with
me without freezing her legs off! Figures!
From what I hear the grandparents have gotten nice amounts of snow
but they are too far away for us to go there and enjoy it! I
told Mommy that if we stopped running the heater, maybe the snow
would come and stick around!

** What Is That
White Stuff? **
February 2, 2007 |
Funny, after
that groundhog named Phil made his predictions of an early Spring,
it snowed all afternoon while I was at school today. It was
too cold to go outside though...bummer. It sure did look
pretty but we didn't get very much of it at all. Enough to put
a nice layer on the grass, but you could still see some green poking
through. The trees and houses looked like a Christmas card, so
that was nice. The roads were just wet, but I guess the back
roads were getting slippery if you weren't careful. I guess we
should have taken a picture because this would have to be recorded
as our "first official snowfall of the year". Oops, it was too
dark when we got home and most of it was melted by the morning!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least one more good snowfall.
Heck, Daddy hasn't even gotten to shovel or snow blow anything yet!
I bet he is feeling a bit down about that!

Great Grandma
Young Passes Away
February 11, 2007 |
My great grandma
Hazel Young passed away early this morning. We had been aware
of her poor health the last few months and it had become much worse
for her in the last week. Hospice had visited and told us to
be prepared, for her last days were coming soon. My grandma,
her daughter, was with her every day for the last week and was able
to be with her when she died. She was comfortable and passed
away in her sleep. Mommy & Daddy had been talking to me about
this situation and about Heaven and angels. I hope she is
happy to be back with Great Grandpa and that the angels are taking
care of her now.
I was really little when I met her a few times and as I got older
she was forgetting who we were. I told Mommy and Daddy that I
remembered her as the "lady who walked with the cane".

~ Saying Good-bye
I am glad that we were able to be there with my family to say
good-bye. I got to meet some of my cousins that I have never
met. I got to stay at Grandma and PaPa's house. Nickoli
was there and we played and played. It snowed and snowed but
everyone who needed to be there, was there. Everyone was
impressed with my good behavior. I was interested in seeing
Great Grandma and I said "bye" to her in my own way. I was
allowed to walk around the funeral parlor and I was interested in
all the "stuff" downstairs. I had lots of questions about the
"stuff" and Mommy answered them to my understanding. I picked
out all the "green" (Irish Crème) candies out of the all the candy
dishes and had PaPa put them in his pockets for me! I was
proud of my shirt that was like Daddy's. I showed everyone my
tie. We all got to eat a good dinner at the ("hey, there is a
real church here!") church, Nickoli and I had a fun time playing in
the playroom with the toys and not having to be "quiet".
My Great Grandma was 93 years old. She lived a long happy life
surrounded by people who loved her. Rest in Peace Grandma.
We love You!

What a Snow Storm!
February
13th-15th, 2007 |
The snow really
hit the state of PA hard this week! We were up in Spartansburg
for Great Grandma's funeral and all we had up there was snow...a lot
of snow. Fortunately for us Daddy knows how to handle driving
in this kind of stuff plus it didn't hurt that we had 4-wheel drive.
However, back home in our town of Harrisburg, PA they were fighting
something all together different...they had gotten inches of snow
and then on top of that...rain and ice! Our drive all the way
home from Grandma's was cautious but for the most part we were fine.
We did hit some "black-ice" but for the most part we had no
problems. We were one of the only cars on the roads though.
We probably had the most trouble once we were in our own driveway!
UGH....we had gotten home really late on the evening of the 14th and
knew our driveway would be blocked from the snowplows. "We'll
just have to plow thru it with the 4-wheel drive" Well...we
more or less "plowed" right OVER it and on top of it...spun a bit in
the middle of the driveway and then "fell-down" into the
garage! YIKES!
Daddy had to work from home on Thursday and Mommy called off...since
we had gotten home late, I slept in until 11 o'clock! Mommy
and me did some sledding in the back yard. It was perfect
conditions since the snow was so packed and frozen. However,
it was too frozen for us to shovel so our driveway and sidewalk were
a mess. They will probably be like that until it all melts
away!

Happy Valentine's
Day
February 14, 2007 |
Happy
Valentine's Day! We celebrated this holiday a little later due
to circumstances mentioned above. However, I still enjoyed it.
We had our party at school and I got all kinds of nice cards and
sweet treats. Mommy and me didn't get to make my cupcakes but
we will do something else special for my friends on another day.
Maybe make brownies...I love brownies!
Anyway, Mommy & Daddy got me 2 more box sets of my favorite chapter
books, The Magic Tree House series. Now I have books 1 - 12!
I was excited and can't wait to start reading them!
We hope you all had a nice holiday and remember to hug and kiss the
ones you love, not only on this day but everyday!

Daddy Is A Busy
Man!
February 2007 |
I didn't put a
date for this entry because my Daddy has been busy for what seems
like to me....FOREVER! I'm sure it feels the same for him and
Mommy too! He has just been swamped at work with a project
that is due by the end of the month. We haven't been able to
get the site updated like we are used too and then there has been a
problem with the server as well. Due to the snowstorm and the
freezing rains, we haven't been able to shovel the snowdrift
that is blocking Daddy's car in the garage...so that has left Mommy
and me stranded at home with no vehicle. I don't mind it so
much because I could, if allowed, spend all day playing Lego Star
Wars! I think Mommy was going a bit stir crazy though :).
Hopefully soon and definitely by March we will have things up and
running and updated! Bear with us.
