just might be the world"

Repairs & Decorating
May
(ongoing) 2007 |
Mommy, Daddy and
me have been busy! We finally did something with the
landscaping in the front of the house! Nothing too fancy as we
are not landscapers or gardeners to say the least. We dug up
some dead stuff and bushes we didn't like, buried the rainspouts
underground (Daddy still isn't sure if this is working properly yet,
since we haven't had any major rainstorms since he did it), brought
in some new topsoil (yea, bought too much of that so I have a nice
pile in the back of the house that I've been enjoying), built a rock
wall on the end near the corner of the house (Mommy did that, she
thinks it's pretty good but thought a true masonry would cringe :P),
bought a new shrub and a couple plants/flowers (we'll see if we can
keep them alive, remember gardeners we are not), covered everything
with mulch (haven't done this the entire time we've lived here -3
years! Have learned already that we should have put something
down to kill the weeds. Mommy tired to suggest that but Daddy
overruled), bought weed killer, Daddy is fixing the gutters on the
front of the house that were leaking (one more line of caulk should
do the trick), cleaned and scrubbed down the front porch, chairs and
windows, bought a pressure washer to clean the dirt (and my "beaufidul"
chalk drawings) off of the driveway so we can reseal it (project
coming soon), MOMMY'S BEEN MOWING THE GRASS!!! (she's calling it
"exercise"...Daddy's calling it something else!), Mommy planted some
flowers in her planters for the porch railings and added some whimsy
to the flower beds (signs that we picked out at Lowe's...Live, Love,
Laughter and Grandma's well bucket with some flowers in it, and a
new mini-flag), we also have yet to replace the tree that "was"
(Daddy determined that it was definitely dead when he pushed on it
and it snapped in the middle!) in the front of the house!
Whew...that's a lot of stuff and one really long sentence! :)
Not sure what Daddy would say, but Mommy & me have been having fun!

HAPPY MOMMY'S
DAY! Daddy and I planned a fun day for today. First, I
will share my special Mother's Day gifts that I made...and I made
quite a few of them. (Mommy is going to try and get pictures
of them on here, but it may take awhile) Let's see, I made a card
using my handprint, painted like a butterfly. Another card
with my hand painted with glitter paint. Another picture of my
handprints with a poem about washing away my fingerprints that are
all over the house (reason we are going to need to paint the hallway
soon, Mommy said she was going to frame it and hang it up!). I
painted her a little wooden box that had Hershey's Hugs & Kisses
inside. I also told her that I would do 3 chores all by myself
today. 1.)Make my bed. 2.) Wash the dishes and 3.) Make
a snack. Daddy got excited when he read that one and asked
what I was making him. I quickly answered, "Nothing, it's not
Daddy day!" Mommy thought that was pretty funny, but I was
serious! We also did a My Mom is Special paper. Here are
my answers:
My Mom is
Special
My Mom
is special because - she makes me pancakes and looks like an angel.
I like it when my Mom - helps me make the Christmas tree and pushes
me on my sled during Christmas.
My Mom can do many things! I think she's best at - making me
happy and cooking!
My Mom has a pretty smile! I like to make her smile by -
making funny jokes and watching funny movies together.
My Mom is as pretty as an - angel.
My Mom is smart! She even knows - how to make person pancakes and
when it is time to go to school.
Daddy & I decided on a special road trip adventure and a picnic
lunch! We packed up our basket of food and other things we
needed....which included 2 hammers! Geocaching was only a
little part of our day, however, we would like to have found at
least one cache in every PA county, so we did a loop. First,
we drove through Lehigh to find a micro at Mommy's first I LOVE MY
MOM, MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION...welcome to the Lehigh Trout Fish
Hatchery! After some funny jokes by my Daddy about this
topping the Happy Anniversary trip to PitHole (see
September
journal 2006), I quickly spotted the geocache in the garden
area. There were some pretty trees there with nice smelling
flowers on them. Anyway, we headed over to the fish hatchery,
which coincidently, was quite busy. It was actually a pretty
cool place. There were thousands of trout, 4 different kinds.
We were able to easily find 3 of the types. I liked the golden
yellow ones, we didn't' even know there were yellow trout. We
made a trip to the gift shop and bought a huge bag of food and the
feeding frenzy began! It was so funny, no matter where you
threw the food, they rushed over there, jumping all over the place
to try and be the one to get it. A bonus we saw was a mommy
duck and her 4 baby ducklings. They were so cute and I wished
that I had my drawing tablet there so I could have drawn a picture
of them! Back in the car, headed to an Earthcache destination,
Ringing Rocks
Park in Bucks County! Boy, do we find some interesting things
because of our hobby of geocaching! Anyway, we arrived in the
very crowded parking lot (it was small). We found a picnic
table and decided to eat first. We got out our hammers and
headed down the trail. It wasn't long until we could "hear"
that we were getting close, we turned the corner and there it was!
A huge field of big boulder rocks....I was off! Climbing and
banging away! Daddy and Mommy could hardly keep up with me.
I love to climb on rocks! It was really strange, these rocks
sound like "bells" when you hit them (video
clip we took). No one really knows why. Some rocks
sound high and other low, while one rock will make a "ringing" sound
and the one right next to it, will not. You could tell which
rocks were popular, but the graffiti and trash was minimal, that is
so nice to see. After spending quite a long time on the rocks,
we continued back down on the trail to find the waterfall.
Mommy had gotten Daddy a PA Waterfalls book and we are determined to
find most, if not all of them in there. We have actually found
some that are not in the book, I think Daddy should write to the
author, heehee. Anyway, we only needed to follow the trail a
little further until we came upon High Falls, as they are named.
There was not much water falling since the weather has been so dry
lately and it was easy for us to climb down the boulder slide to the
left of the falls. These falls were neat because they tilted
to the side and there was a huge tree that had fallen down the front
of it. Some people were even climbing up and down it. I
was having fun jumping from rock to rock and crossing the trickling
stream. I did have a good slip as I wasn't listening to Daddy
about the "water" being algae...but I was okay, just hurt my pride a
bit. We hung around there for a while exploring and taking
pictures. Soon, it was time to head back to the car, but on
the way, we needed to find the actual geocache that was hidden along
the trail. It was a new one, but tricky as this place was very
busy, we managed with no problems and I got a cool travel clock!
We loaded up in the car and headed home thru Montgomery County to
find the other Ringing Rocks place and the geocache there. We
met up with another family at this park, they were caching also.
This park was nice too, but not crowded at all, not as large, sadly,
there was a bit more graffiti than the other but I still had a good
time! All in all, we had a really good day and Mommy said her
legs are going to be hurting for a few days from all the climbing we
did, but she really had a nice Mother's Day.
I LOVE YOU MOMMY! XOXOXO

Memorial Day
Weekend
May
25th-29th, 2007 |
Wow! The
end of May is already here! We took a few days off of
work/school and headed up to Grandma & Pa-Pa's house!
We left Friday morning and took our time, doing some geocaches along
the way. We had a nice trip with no major holiday traffic at all.
I was excited to get there and it wasn't long before I had Grandma
playing Lego's with me. We didn't have any major plans set up
for this years visit...other than I am going to stay here for a
whole extra 10 days - ALL BY MYSELF! I can't wait! I
told Mommy that I needed some peace and quiet because she talks too
much! heehee. Anyway, it was kind of rainy for the
weekend, so we did some shopping at Wal-Mart. I brought some
of my allowance money that I had saved and bought a small Lego set
and we rented a few movies to watch. It pretty much rained all
day Saturday and Sunday. Monday, the sunshine finally appeared
and we spent the whole day working in the yard, pulling large stones
out from beside the house and helping Grandma to finish building the
fire ring. Us boys went to the fire station and brought home
chicken for our picnic lunch. I was busy working in the yard
too...Grandma gave me a job of hauling out gravel with my tractor
wagon. She paid me one dollar for every load! Later, we
loaded up the wagon on the big tractor and went up in the woods.
Daddy and Pa-Pa were going to cut down some fallen trees, but then
decided the chainsaw they brought up was too small for the job.
We got back home and started a fire for dinner. We cooked some
hot dogs and then some smore's! Yummy! Can't go a
Memorial Day weekend without smore's! Pa-Pa had the fireworks
left over from last year, so we finished off our night playing with
those!
It was a nice relaxing weekend and Tuesday came pretty quickly and
it was time for Mommy and Daddy to go home and back to work! I
said good-bye and gave them big hugs and kisses. I think they
are going to have a harder time with me being gone than I am!
:)
Ahh, my first big vacation begins!
