February 2009 Journal
February
already!?!
Not sure if we will get any more snow or not, things have really
warmed up, but that can change in a heart beat!
Exciting times this month....Pittsburgh Steelers will be in the
Super Bowl! Let's make it SIX! I'm having fun with this
and Mom is having a hard time keeping my shirts clean for me to
wear!
Hmm...wonder if that Ground Hog will see his shadow? I hope he
does, I want more snow!

Super Bowl XLIII -
Pittsburgh Steelers Champions!
February 1, 2009 |
Exciting
times...Pittsburgh is going to the super bowl and that game is
today! Mom and I spent the morning making special cookies
for the game and to take over to The Hartley's house. I
wanted to make a giant football and a target cookie...yes, I
came up with there ideas on my own. We iced them up and
they came out super cute, almost too cute to eat! Mom took
a picture of them, so as soon as Dad get the pics on the website
you will see them.
We got all dressed in our Steelers gear and headed over to watch
the game! Jen made the best pizza/Stromboli - it was soo
good!
The Steelers vs. The Arizona Cardinals - and what a game it was
(well, what I saw, I was too busy playing). We had control
of the game early on but things turned around and got pretty
scary after half-time! When I could no longer stay awake,
we were losing. Thankfully, the boys pulled it off...with
a touchdown pass to Holmes in the end zone - and boy that was a
close one!
Woo-Hoo....let's celebrate a great game and a 27- 23 win!
Now, I just wonder if I will ever be able to stay awake for a
Steelers Super Bowl game?!

February 2, 2009 |
So, that
little groundhog was grabbed out of his nice little cozy resting
place, hoisted into the air and saw his shadow! Six more
weeks of Winter!

Today we
went to Gettysburg. It's not that far away and we were up
for a road trip...it's been awhile. We've been wanting to
check out the Boyd's Bear Country store for some time now...so
we thought we would head there and then just see what else we
could venture into along the way.
The store is
huge...a giant red barn! It was not crowded there at all
so it was nice exploring. I still love stuffed animals and
I wanted to bring them all home. I found this huge
HedgeHog that was soo soft...but Mom talked me into the smaller
one. I also got a free small bear for participating in a
President's Day coloring contest. I colored George
Washington...and I worked on it for quite some time.
After exploring the "bears" we drove into downtown Gettysburg,
passing all of the battlefields. I was truly intrigued by
them...if it would have been just a tad bit warmer out, we would
have explored them a bit more. Right now...it was time for
lunch. We ate at a place called The Pub and it was very
yummy!
After lunch we headed over to one of the war memorials...this
huge one that I saw on the way to lunch and wanted to see up
close. It was the memorial for all of the soldiers that
fought during the Civil War that were from Pennsylvania. I
love monuments - I just think that they are so cool. One
of the main reasons I want to go to Washington DC! Anyway,
we climbed the steps to the center of the memorial and then
realized that there we steps to get to the top....I started
right up those babies...no worries....(now, there were cement
sprial stairs)...UNTIL some people were coming down and we had
to stop and slide over to make room for them! I looked
down...and freaked! Sat my little self right down, right
there, I'm not moving! There were only a few steps left to
go, so Dad just picked me up and carried me to the top! I
am so glad he did! We could see all around from up there
and too see all the barren fields. It was strange for me
to think about people fighting there...all out in the open with
really no places to hide! WOW!
We found an ice cream place (Brusters!) on our way home.
Yummy! It was a fun Valentine's Day spent with family!

Bowling Fun!
February 22, 2009 |
As some of
you may know...I bowl once a week. I love it! Dad,
Mom and I have been going on Sundays. Mom is trying to get
me more focused on "my form" and not using the bumpers so much.
I am doing much better than I was early in the bowling
season....but she doesn't like how I bend my arm, guess she's
afraid of me hurting my shoulder.
Anyway, I am not ready to completely give up the bumpers but I
have tried one whole game without them. I only scored a 10
or something like that. We have a fun incentive worked
out...if I use the bumpers but don't hit them...I get 25cents.
If I bowl without the bumpers...I get 25cents PLUS 5 cents for
every pin I knock down. This is helping me not to get soo
upset when I get a gutter.
I enjoy our family bowling adventures!
